Headlights…the shell is held on to the bracket by a single bolt running through the bracket. The shell “should” be able to slide on that bolt. So loosen it, adjust the light as necessary and tighten it up.
And you may be right about turning the rear torsion bars. Hard to say from pictures, but it is very possible the body blocks access. -
Paul Mossberg replied to the topic VW exhaust system in the forum VW Based Kits 15 years, 2 months ago
Never, never, put air shocks or coil-overs on a VW. You will end up driving a block of concrete.
Got that? Never!
And you could always adjust the headlights Ed.

Charlie,
I’ve checked with some other sources and cannot find much about Design Classics. Here’s what I’ve got:
Deign Classics built replicas of the MG-TD and the 1957 Thunderbird in their Minnetonka, Minnesota factory in the early 1980s. Their MG replica was called the eMGe and fit on a VW chassis. The Teebird also bolted to a VW pan and left…[Read more] -

It;s hard to tell from pictures, but in your side view, the rear of teh body does seem to be sittinga bit low.
This is going to sound like an odd question…but do the doors fit the opening correctly?
Here’s why I’m asking.
From the door openings forward, there is really no way the body can be assembled incorrectly. It all rests on the VW pan.
But…[Read more] -

Another opinion from off our list:The shims are to correct the rocker to valve stem geometry, which probably changes because of the non-stock valve adjusters. So you might (repeat, might) need to make up custom length push rods.I’m sticking with my original opinion, you have a stock motor. I think a replacement set of stock adjusters would be fine.

This is SCAT’s description of the Ball Swivel Adjusters:These VW swivel ball adjusting screws from SCAT prevent valve stem wear
caused by the side load of cams with high lift and high valve spring
pressure in your aircooled Volkswagen…. a must for any high
performance air-cooled engine. Installation requires no special tools,
and the screws have…[Read more] -

MFG is a common abbreviation for manufacturer, so I’m guessing MFGD is their abbreviation for Manufactured or maybe remanufactured. In NJ, a kit car gets titled as REC for Reconstructed.

Major thread drift…but I gotta chime in anyway.I did everything in Mark’s note accept ride on the package shelf. And that’s only cause my dad always had a station wagon. So we would ride on the floor in the “way back”. And once, I rode in the little package space behind the rear seat in my friend’s mom’s VW Beetle. And I’m gonna add three…[Read more]
