I just tried the Donate link and the Buy a grill badge link from the “Our Store” page. Both appear to be working again.

Hey Larry…never apologize for jumping in! The more the merrier.I agree the quote from the retired Classic guy must be referring to front engine chassis/suspensions.

Hi Andre,Interesting. I’ll take a look at my id tag and see what it says. I’m sure mine does not say limited edition. But now I’m confused. Is this the same car as the one in your photo gallery? It’s VW based, right? I assume it is because of the carpet on the firewell under your id plate. Here’s why I ask. Every, and I mean EVERY, Classic Roadsters…[Read more]

Andre,Sorry to disagree with my on-line friends out there, but there is no difference in the kit itself. Classic Roadsters’ MG kit was properly called the “Grand Duchess”. I’ll show you the front page of my assembly manual if you want. :)It’s simply easier to refer to the car as the Duchess. And that’s what we wll do.Royale might have been a…[Read more]

Andre,
You might be able to cut out the damaged portions and weld or rivet in patch panels.
But if you need to do complete replacements of both sides of the pan, you are going to have to lift the body. The main body panels bolt to the original body mounting holes for the Beetle, which run along the outer channel of the floor pan.
My personal…[Read more] -

Good luck! We had a minor dusting today. Nothing, but still way too early. But north-western NJ and the Poconos in PA (about an hour from here) had a foot!

I think it’ll look OK after a careful trim job.How much space between the grill cut out and the front of the body-work? And what does the front of the bodywork (I guess outside the front of the trunk) look like?If it is not straight up and down (parallel to the grill shell) I suggest you create a false back for the cut out. However you mount the…[Read more]

It should work.
Are you sacrificing a waterproof trunk?
I dont; recall what is behind the shell on a migi. -
Paul Mossberg replied to the topic polish or wax? in the forum General Discussion 17 years ago
Good luck. These are tough cars to rub out because of all the compound curves. The good news is that gel coat is much thicker than paint. So chances are excellent you will be able to bring out the shine again.

The knob on the dash may be connected only to a blower for he defroster vents. The levers on either side oof the emergency brake are attached to cables which run through the center tunnel and attached to airflow valves on the heater boxes on either side of the engine. They open and close those valves and allow heated air into the passenger…[Read more]

For some reason the link in my prior post goes to the car care line. Just use the links in left hand pane to get to the boat/RV products.
I would also right-click the link above and open it in a new window or tab. Otherwise it opens within the forum pane of the tdreplica site and limits your view.PMOSSBERG39738.9584143519 -

Welcome Tom,
First question…paint or gel coat?
Assuming gel coat, I’ve had great success with Meguiars line of boat polishes and waxes.
This link is to Meguiars boat/RV page. I do not use the “premium” line. I use the standard line of products (in the blue bottles), just click the polish and wax links on the left and look around.

The IRS is far superior to the swing axle. I would keep looking. The torsion tube front end is not hard to install. In fact, many owners have replaced their stock torsion tubes with the adjustable front end, so that they can remove some of the bars to soften the ride and then readjust the ride height. Pinkmg (in real life known as Mark) posted an…[Read more]

Scott,One other thing…you are looking for a 1969 and later Beetle. The independent rear suspension was introduced in 1969.OK two things…one thing you might want off a Karmann Ghia is the front disk brake assemblies. There are also after-market conversion kits for front and rear. Either way, disk brakes are one of the best improvements you can…[Read more]

Hi Scott,I don’t have a chassis for you…but I’m writing to alert you that a Ghia will not give you what you need to build your Fiberfab MG TD Kit.The Ghia is on a widened Beetle chassis. You would have to make a lot of modifications to refit it as a Beetle Type 1 chassis. See below for more detail on the Ghia chassis.Meanwhile, any old Beetle…[Read more]

Frank,I recommend you try the MG Magic route. The Beetle bumpers will have too much of a curve to them and will be too high. You might want to watch ebay for a while. For example the starting price on this listing
