Hi Scott,I don’t have a chassis for you…but I’m writing to alert you that a Ghia will not give you what you need to build your Fiberfab MG TD Kit.The Ghia is on a widened Beetle chassis. You would have to make a lot of modifications to refit it as a Beetle Type 1 chassis. See below for more detail on the Ghia chassis.Meanwhile, any old Beetle…[Read more]

Frank,I recommend you try the MG Magic route. The Beetle bumpers will have too much of a curve to them and will be too high. You might want to watch ebay for a while. For example the starting price on this listing
350105505106 is only $69.95 for the blade. There are no bids yet, so it’s hard to predict what the selling price will…[Read more] -

Here’s a toggle style turn signal switch from some company in Canada. Expensive, but not “MossMotors expensive”.

Re the turn signal, I’ve seen these on a number of old cars that did not come quipped with turn signals. You attach it to the steering column. Although you might not have enough room.

Hey Titus,
Welcome!
Some of the answers will vary based on your kit’s manaufacturer…but here goes…
1. On my Classic roadsters Duchess, there is a u-channel support bar, under the hood, parellel to the chrome strip that is on the outside. I used the seat belt shoulder strap seat from my donor Beetle, riveted one end to the “firewall”…[Read more] -

Hey Ringo,Yes. If you look up MossMotors in any dictionary, you will see gold. Sad, but that’s what the market will bear for restoration parts for original TDs. Aren’t you glad you have a reproduction?I’ve seen excellent results on dashes where the owner simply cut a glove box door out…CAREFULLY…and hinged the cut out piece.I’d think you could…[Read more]

George,In a different posting, you mentioned you had found the phone number for MG Magic. It’s probably buried in a bunch of old postings. But why don;t you post a new one, with MG Magic Phone Number as the subject…and include the number in the subject and body of the posting.

Yes. Classic Roadsters built VW based and front engine TDs. Their front engines were available with Pinto or Chevette drivetrains or set up to receive same if you were building your own). And…they could take a V6 TD, not sure who’s engine they used.

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic FIBERGLASS AND BATERY in the forum General Discussion 17 years, 6 months ago
If it looks like battery acid damage you could try to neutralize the acid with the baking soda, then clean up the baking soda and allow the fiberglass tiem to dry out to see if it re-hardens.If it’s not battery acid and you cannot determine what else might have caused the damage, you’ll probably have to bite the bullet and cut out the damage piece…[Read more]

That’s pretty cool Larry. Are you able to use the side curtains too?George, if you are considering Larry’s approach, check carefully what the final height of the roof will be. If I lowered my roof two inches, I would no longer fit under it.Also, you will need straps to hold the front bar at the correct angle. One for each side, they wrap around…[Read more]

George,
I found a couple other helpful pictures for you.
There is a picture in Hobbyjim’s folder, showing a top frame, with no top on it. So you can really see how the frame goes together.
And there is a good side view in the Robert gallery folder, which shows both roof bars. - Load More
