Very nice car.I agree with the comments above. We seem to be seeing more asking prices in the $13-14k range. But I truly doubt cars are selling at that price.

The flat mirrors that came with these cars are useless.But convex mirrors on the fenders have worked fine for me since 1983.

Ric,Would you send me a private message or email me with more detail. To figure out what’s going wrong, I really need micro level detail of exactly what steps you followed at at which point it errored out.Maybe email would be better, you’d be able to include screen shots in an email.

Love that cement mixer as a tank cleaner idea!It’s probably obvious, but if you are going to clean the carbs, replace those filters before you try to run the engine. -

I don’t think the wheel on VintageCarParts UK web site is a Forever Sharp wheel.
FS has banjos, but all the ones I’ve seen are three spoke. Pictures here:And they don’t sell them without the center hubs like the one b… -

Celebrated my 58 from 58 birthday. Born in 1958, turned 58 years old.My Duchess is a 1981 kit, completed in 1982. I first registered her for spring 1983.So I guess she was conceived in 1981 and born in 1982, making her 34 years old. -

Meanwhile…before you start shopping for an engine to rebuild, or for rebuild parts, let’s look a little closer at what you have.Do a compression check. Here are a few thoughts to get the thread going!
The way a stock VW is geared, first gear is only good up to
about ten or fifteen miles an hour. If you went faster than that, you may have
“over-reved” the engine. Not sure what that would mean with the
