That’s pretty funny. The Classic Roadsters Ltd. assembly manual recommended filling the box with sand. You end up with about 150 pounds. I cannot guess what that weighed with railroad tie plates!

Welcome to the forum Terry Pemberton (@Terry, ).
Terry owns a TD2000.
Per Terry, the TD2000 was factory hand-built and sold as new cars. They were not marketed in the USA due to our air bag requirements (Editors note: although I do recall seeing them in the manufacturers’ building at Carlisle a number of years ago).
Terry’s green car is a…[Read more]

We’re hijacking Al’s repair thread, but for a moment…
I believe you will not find a “modern car” to use as the basis for a TD replica. “Modern cars” do not have a frame. And unibody construction doesn’t lend itself well to the kit car world. You need a full frame to build the replica on.
As weak as it was compared to a “real” Mustang, the…[Read more]

Hi Mike,
Definitely a TD replica.
I agree with Ed. I believe this is a MiGi. More specifically a Daytona MiGi (not to be confused with the MiGi II).
Here’s a great thread with descriptions of just about all the major manufacturers. Scroll down to the Daytona MiGi post. I think you’ll see the details align with your…[Read more]

Mike,
I believe I responded outside of the forum.
Are you certain about the model TB? I’m not aware of any reproductions of the TA, TB or TC. If the car is truly a TB reproduction, it may be a one-off build. This would be a very cool find. And I bet the members here would be as interested in learning about it as you are.
Would you post a couple…[Read more]

Hello west coasters!
The Speedster/Spyder Owners Group that we join with at Carlisle has a large California contingent.
They get together often for impromptu drives (all over the state) and arrange a couple large scale group activities each year.
TDr owners are more than welcome to join in!
The events page in the Speedster Owners Group forum…[Read more]

Ha!
And if that Duchess had been assembled per the factory assembly manual, you would also have had a bunch of rivets to drill out.
Next time you want to pull your Duchess apart, write to me first! Or take a look through the Duchess VW assembly manual (in our library) to see how it all went together.

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Tips for Cutting Fiberglass? in the forum General Discussion 5 years ago
I cut a lot of fiberglass with a jig saw. I used blades that had no teeth, but have a abrasive “grit” cutting edge. Look for blades intended for tile, stone or masonry.
If you’re trimming, it;s best to cut “large” and sand down to your marks.
For the job you are doing, a long straight cut, you’ll want some sort of jig set up.
Most kits were…[Read more]
