And for what it’s worth, those LR guys must have been mavericks. 👿
ÂOr maybe the same knucklehead wired every dash and didn’t know blue from red! 😆 -

This comment, and variations of it, confuse me. And I think it is incorrect:Â
“Alternator will not charge battery until light goes off, amp gauge verifies that.”I’m not expert, but that never stopped me from opining before!ÂThe light is an indication of what is happening. It is in the circuit, telling you if things are ok (it’s out) or not ok (it… -

Dick, it sounds like who ever built your car wired two of the idiot lights incorrectly.ÂThe blue light is normally used for hi-beams (not just in our TDr, it’s an industry standard). The red is used to indicate whether the charging circuit is charging or discharging.ÂWhen you turn your inigition key on, the generator/altenator light should lig… -

Hi lost.I think the dash start button would be cool.My high beam switch is the turn signal lever.I’d avoid the floor switch for either high beams or starter. Most of the TDr footwells are pretty tight. I wouldn’t want to be poking around for a floor switch.

I built my Duchess in 1982. All connections I had to make were done with crimped connectors.
I’ve never had a loose connection.ÂI’m not saying your mechanic is wrong. I fully agree soldered/imsulated connections are better.I’m just sayin’ I’m going on 33 years with no problems -

I second that. John Muir’s book is a must for any VW owner.

Here is Classic Roadsters approach.
ÂThere is a steel under the engne cover. It protrudes through the hole to serve as spare tire mount. Shaped like the FF pic above, but about eight inches wide.ÂIt bolts to the two “z-bars” that you see running under the apare tire.ÂThe z-bars are bolted to fittings on the rear valance.ÂÂThat said…I’d real… -

News to me! Thanks guys!
ÂI hope there’s something other than the wire loom serving as a support! -

John,
ÂDo you have a few pics of your car? I’m really curious. I’ve never seen a FF with a rear hinged engine cover. The only one with that config that I’ve seen is Classic Roadsters Ltd. Duchess.ÂI love that you wrote the previous owner set up the grill to “…look just like a Duchess….” instead of writing to “…look just like an original TD.” TwoÂ

Google “roller accelerator pedal” and you are going to find dozens of hits for the VW pedal assembly.
ÂBut I’m not seeing anything for Chevette or Pinto pedal assemblies. - Load More
