Excellent factory built replica. 4 speed. Has TF style seats. Interior in great shape. Paint is very good. Only 14,400 miles. Everything works. $8900 on Craigslist. $8500 here. Also have original 1952 MGTD – would like to sell one or the other.

Tom – I happen to have just acquired a Volvo powered MGTD and am in the process of bringing it back to life after 30 some years in storage. I also have a Chevette powered replica. If you do a front engine vehicle, I would not use the Chevette. It was the first GM all metric engine and nothing else GM fits the engine or transmission. It is on…[Read more]

I have had no issues at all. The change seems to have been seamless. Thanks for all your excellent work.

Very nice looking car. Those of us with front engine BCW cars have little info on how they were built. If any of your documents have sections or info on the Chevette BCW, copies of that would be much appreciated. And welcome to the site. The members here are the best.

Just a note on some measurements between the two cars. This may be old info for some, but here it is anyway. The BCW hood is 3 inches longer than the original. This seems to be accounted for by the rear fenders being moved closer to the doors by 2 inches. This moves the front fenders forward by about 2 inches. The other inch is found in th…[Read more]

Great shot. Guess I’ll have to paint my car RED to become part of the group.

Enjoying the comments. I got the TDR because I wanted a fendered car and a TD was my first car. That TD had a Ford V8-60. So I bought the TDR to hot rod. I do have a Buick aluminum V8 that might go in the TDR, but it’s condition is unknown. My other hobby is old fiberglass boats., specifically Glasspar. At a boat show, I had decided to se…[Read more]

Tom – in a previous post, I think you said your louvers were real – was I dreaming?

I’ll start a separate topic on the differences. Of course I am fairly new to the original and replica hobby, but it will be fun to hear which car others think I should keep/sell.

Yes, I have the 1952 MGTD with Volvo engine. I am working on getting it road ready. Lots of small things – like no brakes. I am still not completely sure which car I will keep. Having the original, I am more aware of the improvements that the replica has – dual master cylinder, doors that actually close and stay closed. But it is cool to h…[Read more]

The picture I posted is of the gauges in my 1952 MGTD (not a replica). The silver is the original and the black was mounted sometime in the past 35 years. My thought was to get the matching instruments for both and put the black in the MGTDR and the silver in the MGTD. Problem is that all the gauges are mechanical. The MGTDR uses ele…[Read more]

Steering wheel is way to thin. I am thinking of changing it for a thicker smaller diameter wheel with spokes similar to the TD wheel

I moved the fender mirrors to the folding window bracket. I’ll get a convex mirror to put on the right side. Car looks nice without fender mirrors.
