I looked at mine this past weekend and the spare tire holder is behind or underneath the rear hood.

You want it to be removal to access the gas tank and gas gauge sender. If you glass it in it will be a mistake.

Rob Baker started the topic Ford kit front strut removal in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 7 years, 4 months ago
This falls project is to replace the front upper and lower control arms on my Ford based kit. In my configuration there is a strut that goes between the lower control arm and frame. Is this necessary? Who has removed this arm? The new control arms are on order and I don’t think there is a provision for reattaching this strut. I believe this…[Read more]

It a Monogram die-cast Metal and Plastic MG-TC kit that is 1/24 scale from around 1977. I friend of mine picked it up at a flee market and gave it to me as a retirement present over a year ago. The garage in NH is around 14 degrees so this is a great alternative.Going to red with black interior just like my replica.

Rob Baker replied to the topic TDr as tow car? in the forum General Discussion 10 years, 1 month ago
I tow a Force Five sailboat (145 lbs) behind my Ford project but only about a mile. I would not put a 900 lb sailboat behind my car on a public road.

Rob Baker replied to the topic c4 trans removal in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 10 years, 4 months ago
Took a good look at the trans removal project and I’ve decided to take the engine and trans in one piece. More work to disconnect everything but may be physically easier then working under the car. Yes it may take longer but less likely to get hurt in the process.I have checked the fluid level and it appears ok but I haven’t checked it when it s…[Read more]

Ed,After it gets warm it seems to drop out of gear. When it’s warm and I put it in drive from a stop it doesn’t pick up the gear, I have to bring it down to 1, get going and then shift it to drive.I’m going to adjust the bands this weekend and retest.It’40 years old so it may be due for a rebuild.Rob

Bill,For the type of driving I do the 3 speed C4 works just fine and I hear they are easy to rebuild. This weekend I’m going to do the band adjustment but I’m not sure that is going to help.My other concern with the newer transmissions is that they may be larger in size and may not fit the transmission tunnel without some mods. But thanks, I m…[Read more]

Rob Baker replied to the topic vin numbers in the forum General Discussion 10 years, 11 months ago
Using the vin number from any other car would be tubae in many states. Say you’re using the vin number from a VW. Clearly this new car doesn’t represent that VW model.I know in MA you could get in hot water for using a vin number that doesn’t represent the actual car. I titled my car in MA with a vin something like MA2349. Then did a title tra…[Read more]

Instead of a solid rod to prop up the hood I’m using a correctly sized (length) wire.

Enjoying your build journey. You seem to be on the right track and have the experience to build something special. A weakness of my 2.3 liter Ford based kit is the brakes since they are manual. There isn’t any room for a power booster. Just a little caution. I can’t imagine building anything with high horsepower with these brakes.
