Well, the fabricator stopped by this evening and he had quite a time getting his head around what I wanted to accomplish. He agreed the removable running board modification was a good idea. Two support tubes that would run rearward from the main hoop by my head posed a puzzle. I told him that the cage was the priority and that the fiberglass…[Read more]

I see you have a collapsible steering column installed. Who supplied the components for that?

Hmm — I can see where a varying moisture content’s effect on Poly-sealed hardwood (in this case Cherry) could cause cracking and splitting over time. I have some Teak oil, as well as Walnut oil (for wood turnings) — or I can just continue to add coats of WATCO Danish Oil on top of the gel stain that I’ve already applied.
I’ll try the WATCO o… -

My top is pretty much like others have described with a flat bar that is very close in dimension to the smaller of the front leaves. I have shown a detail of the driver’s front corner which keeps it quite secure. It is a pretty good rig. Much better than many of my previous sports cars. No leaks. Good luck.My

Allen, Not really so odd. My TDr is a Daytona MiGi. Jack’s car is a Fiberfab MiGi II. The info that I have is that Daytona sold their molds to Fiberfab. Fiberfab’s early TDr was very similar to Daytona’s due to the fact that they were just assembling and selling old Daytona parts. Eventually Fiberfab made some changes to the molds and thei…[Read more]

I’m jealous of the zip-in rear window. Must make the top-up ride very nice and breezy.

I could never keep the top in that groove. I installed a row of snaps.

Thanks George. My seams on the top bow pockets are starting to come loose — it will soon be time for the top to go to the canvas shop to be re-sewn. I’ll ask them to look for a tag. I also like Billinparts idea of having some clear quarter panels put in — this top has a pretty big blind spot as designed.
The car is coming along — the pic’… -

A good upholstery shop should be able to modify the window in your top. I, personally never did it, but when I used her as a daily driver I had a shop install quarter windows in the top for visibility. They did a nice job and it looked good. The zippered window should not be difficult.

I have a FF-II that I just purchased back in May — It has a tan cloth top with a zip open rear window. There are straps on each side of the window with snaps — so the window can be rolled up and snapped in the rolled position. But I’m not sure if this was a “stock” Fiberfab II top and side curtains. I’ll upload some pic’s tomorrow.

my fiberfab was a nightmare. I found some guys in fla. selling a complete harness for under 150 and I’m just starting over. sounds like you will save yourself a lot of head aches starting over.but if you want to save your current wireing ( no pun intended). do one circuit at a time, don’t think of it as one large system

Not to be outdone, Grover says if Cooper can drive, so can I. Julie just gave him the keys and I’m
giving driving instructions .He’s going to back out of the garage and is a bit nervous since he has never driven a standard transmission before:So, he says, “OK, I’m ready, lets go, open the door.” -

While playing with both dogs in the back yard this evening, the white one vanished and we couldn’t find him. He was finally located sitting in the garage.
I don’t know who he thought was going to give him the keys.He had never done this before…strange.
