You should try 10w30 oil, it won’t hurt anything and will reduce your oil pressure when the engine is cold. Are you sure that your gauge is accurate?

It should only be a couple more weeks of work on the honey-do list Patti made while I was enjoying myself in Carlisle. I should be able to get back on tearing the fenders back off for paint. I would like it to be colored before this show.

You could get away with overlapping paperwork between states before computerization. I used to get drivers licenses while on vacations. I once had valid MN, PA and TX licenses simultaneously. Boy, did that save my ass on several occasions.

I would use braided fuel line for the lines at the master. clean the reservoir out with alcohol. bleed until the fluid is clear at all 4 wheels. braided stainless steel hoses will give a nice firmer pedal.don’t forget to clean up &put a good amount of never seize on the adjusters

you can connect a dial indicator up & measure the movement. but as a state insp. mechanic for 20+years I have found if you can feel movement the part tie rodend or ball joint is on its last legs. but if greasing the joint took up the slack I would let the customer slide & tell him they would need replaced soon.

Jack it up till the wheel is off the ground. Place a pry bar under the tire and lift. Check for excessive movement in the joint.

Hmm, I did have some right front wheel shimmy when I applied the brakes on my maiden test drive — thought it was the brakes.
I may need to re-look at those tie rod ends while I have the front wheels off to do the brake job… -

Good pro’s and con’s on the front disk brake conversion. After re-checking the price to convert to disk brakes up front and the fact that I need to get the car on the road to really find out what works and what is really, really broken, I’m going to do just a simple refresh on the brakes.
So, I ordered front and rear wheel cylinders and br… -

Just today, I was at HappyJack’s and he had the front end of his new TDr up in the air. So we checked for “slop”. There is a little slop in his tie rods, but not much. So, how much is too much? I really don’t know either. I’ll bet that it will soon be taken care of because tie rod ends are relatively inexpensive and easy to install/change. Bu…[Read more]

Is it assembled? I been just shaking the tire/wheel & feeling for slop. Hopefully someone here has a more scientific method.

Cool Bill. I’ll bring Happy Jack (one way or another) and it’ll be fun. Great find on the shots of 2012. It was a pretty classy show, eh?

The silence is deafening. Either no interest or too early to plan that far ahead. I’ll ask again in a couple of months.

Drums work fine for me & have for three years but I am going to put disks on the front. Speedster guys swear by them (one claims 4-wheel disks is the only way to go). the evidence is pretty good.1. fade-free stops matter not just on the track, but also on long hills. You drive your car for fun this could matter.2. Rain happens. 3. Disks…[Read more]
