That Carburetor really likes to drink the fuel. I am not used to such a gas hog. The engine is about a 1776cc VW. If I go back to a Solex Carb, I have s few questions
First, which Solex carb would be correct for a 1776 VW engine?
Will I lose power by going to a less thirsty carburetor?

Thanks people, the London Roadster has dince had a fuel cell installed so I need to raise the bonnet at each fuel stop. Gone are the days of the fuel inlet neck squeezing down to one-inch and causing back-flow fuel spillage every time at fuel stops.

Friends of mine in the metro Phoenix Arizona area are selling their Mercedes Gazelle kit car.
Does anyone know what the market is for these? It’s in great condition and was last seen in a local Veteran’s Day parade. The couple that owns this car are downsizing due to their age and health reasons.

One book you should have in your library if you own an air-cooled VW engine is How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive Step By Step Procedures for the Compleat Idiot by John Muir.
It is out of print, yet there seem to be plenty of used ones on eBay and Amazon or even antique stores in your area.
Even if you don’t do the work yourself, you should g…[Read more]

We didn’t win a prize this time, yet we had a good time.
I discovered the night before the show, that the rim if my hubcaps is metal, yet the “wire” spikes are a chrome poly.
Apparently the company that made the metal-spike hub caps that rusted, is out of business. Maybe I will start saving up for real wire wheels. -

Thanks for the positive information.
Ive only driven the car about 18-20 miles for far. I think the iflecis set too low. The engine stalls when I down shift at stop lights. -

The shop that put in my new 1776cc motor wants to put in electronic ignition with a more powerful coil.
Is this an upgrade for the car or an upsell by the mechanic?

On Sunday October 29, 2023, the plan is to have my London Roader in the car and motorcycle show sponsored by the Arizona MG club, featuring British wheels in Peoria, Arizona at Centennial Plaza in downtown Peoria from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. I talked to them prior to registering and we will be in a “Specialty” class. New 1776cc VW engine, new rear bum…[Read more]

I’ll be getting a new top for my London Roadster hopefully this year. Any convertible top shop or sail maker probably could make one.

I ended up with outdoor cover for a ‘52 MG TD from California Car Cover Co. The London Roadster is a little smaller than a real TD, so the fit is loose. Yet it stays on and keeps weather out. It does not keep the feral cats from sleeping in it.

While backing out of its garage, my lady friend thought that she was too close to a parked car. She pulled forward and caught the rear bumper, bending it back. I’m told that it is an MG bumper, not a VW blade. Is Moss Motors the only shop in the USA that sells new replacement parts?
