December 24, 2011 at 7:54 pm #248346MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
November 17, 2011 at 1:01 pm #247597So far so good-dryer sheets in multiple locations and no evidence of new
squirrel infestation for the last week. I will keep my fingers crossed and my
dryer sheets in place. Thanks again for all the good suggestions.
November 2, 2011 at 8:46 pm #247589Still lots of interesting ideas. I really don’t button it up as I try to drive it a couple of times a week at least. I have put in some dryer sheets and will report back in a week or so.
November 1, 2011 at 5:40 pm #247584I live in rural eastern NC and my property is several acres of woodlands. I
fear I may be on wrong end of a catch and release program. I have eaten
squirrel stew but it is not one of my favorites to say the least. The nearest
storage rental units are quite a distance from me but that may be the best
final solution. In the meantime I will try the mothball, fabric softener combo.
Thanks again for the good ideas.
October 31, 2011 at 11:46 am #247580Thanks guys, My bernese mountain dog thinks squirrels are his friends and they have no fear. I wish I had a garage. I will try the dryer sheets and moth balls. Thanks again for the imput
September 19, 2010 at 2:13 pm #242281A good thump to the carb. and now running well. Thanks

June 3, 2010 at 8:13 am #241559Thanks guys, I will wet sand with 2500 grit paper and see how it goes. Always looking for a faster method, but know that nothing replaces good old elbow grease
June 2, 2010 at 9:44 am #241556Thanks, these products are marketed for restoring fiberglass on boats. The claim is that they may last for up to a year without return of the white oxidation spots. I have used the Mcguiars products but it seems that white spots show up in a matter of weeks.
December 9, 2009 at 9:13 am #239620Title finally arrived from NC DMV. Title reads 1952 MGTD replica. So now I am fully street legal. On another note, where my gel coat was badly oxidized I sanded it with 2500 grit wet paper and buffed it out with Mcguiars polish. So far white spots have not returned.
August 6, 2009 at 1:09 pm #239373Welcome to the group. I live in Rocky Mount.

November 10, 2008 at 10:56 am #237287Bailey, I live in Rocky Mount. I have been given guidance on the registration from a gentleman here who restores classic cars. Sorry to hear of your difficulty. I will post my results.
November 5, 2008 at 1:43 pm #237284thanks again for the valuable information. It gives me a good place to start. Hope to have my TD inspected in the next day or so. The procedure in NC is quite convoluted for a “reconstructed car from out of state” Wish me luck. Thanks again tom
November 4, 2008 at 11:11 am #237281I have read in several places about the tire pressure differential to improve handling and i assume it is necessary due to the weight difference in the VW powered cars. My question is: Is there a ratio front to rear pressure that occurs frequently? By this I mean that I understand that each car will differ but is there a logical or experiential starting point or is it trial and error all the way? Thanks for all your help so far.
October 20, 2008 at 9:02 am #237612Paul, many thanks. Your description of the heater cables matches what I see and there are air ducts under both seats. I have owned a 61 beetle and a 71 minivan but had not seen these levers before.
thanks again, tom
October 19, 2008 at 6:17 pm #237610Yes my TD still has its heater. There is a knob on the dash which turns on the heater fan. The levers must control the airflow. Thanks, I’m sure I will have many more newbie questions before the car is finished. Many thanks.
October 19, 2008 at 5:25 pm #237606Thank you, it is gel coat and thanks for the link.
