Do you mean the two piece tin that goes between the engine case and the heater boxes? If so, I think that this one causes the fan forced cooling air to wrap around the bottom of the cylinders and the push rod tubes and prevents hot spots on the bottom of them as well as protecting the push rod tubes. Absolutely I ditto 1oldbuzz. I have moved many many times in my lifetime and the mover is liable in almost all instances. Don’t wait before filing, there may be a statute of limitations.

If your ignition system is in good shape, here is what I did: Mask and tape the glass around the rear fender area and the rear apron to prevent staining your nice finish. I would hold the transportation company liable for the lost hood.They have or are supposed to have insurance for things like this
