Hello I know I’m new here but thought I share something with you about shorts in wiring. If you have a short all I have done over the years is to put a compass on the front seat turn the key and it will point toward the short as if it was north and you can take the compass and follow it.If it has not blown a fuse.If it has just make your self a…[Read more]

GREAT JOB and thanks for the pictures and story.
Do you have any pics of the windows an could you describe how they are raised and lowered ,or are they designed to be removed as on the original MG? -

Paul, you should have italicized the word most
Sometimes I wonder about that when I’m driving the rotten NJ roads.

Thanks for the positive comments on the pan!! Several years ago I bought a
fairly beat up but as it turned out, very complete, Lafer on ebay because my sons
wanted to rebuild a car. Their interest lasted about 3 days but I was hooked and
after a few weeks of indecision decided to rebuild it from the ground up. Thus I
ended up with probably…[Read more] -

Zarco, welcome to the Forum. There’s a lot of good advice here. I
drive a BCW Chevette based TD replica and live in California. Try to
buy a car that is already registered as a 1975 or earlier so you will be
exempt from smog requirements. Failing that, try to get an SB100
exemption. It’s a hassle but worth it. My car was registered as a…[Read more] -

As Dale has said, mine was also the standard yellow foam, somewhat firm but not firm enough that I couldn’t feel the board underneath it. But Dale’s fix took care of that.

Wow – that pan looks new – I wish mine looked like that when I started

Dale Schumacher replied to the topic Seat Cushions in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years, 2 months ago
Allen,
Mine just looks like the standard yellow foam used on most chairs etc. – I
think you can get it most anywhere and cut it to fit. The repair I did helped
me a lot on the long drives.

wait…your fuel gauge works fine now…and you still want to mess with these wires? If you want to play with them and the tank sender and fuel gauge, here is your illustrated primer.Learn it. Live it. Love it.But seriously, why not just tape them up and forget them or, better still, track them to their source and pull them out? Coil them up…[Read more]

Paul,
Was the foam fairly hard like a memory foam or really squishy and soft? The VW seat cushions that I got for my Ghia from TMI are pretty firm. I may order a couple of cushions and a seat back cushion from TMI and trim them to fit. Does that sound like it’ll work? Chime in folks. I only want to do this once.newkitman40651.8144328704 -

thanks much :O) I had the floors redone a few years back and as I was leaving the shop, I had noticed the fuel was on empty, which was impossible, since I always have at least 1/2 a tank. The guy did not bother to test any wires. He just ran a new wire to the tank. That fixed it. Should I leave these alone? or connect them to the tank? Than…[Read more]
