Thanks Paul, I’m glad you are working on it. I did not intend to imply any slackness concerning how anyone is fulfulling their duties here. Hope you can get in touch with FrankieD in time to keep the site up and running. A LARGE amount of information is assembled in the posts ,it would be a great loss if it got gone or was no longer accessable.

I agree with Ed, it’s a lot of fun and usually rewarding to start the engine up -right now!
air cooled engines are the most fun cuz you can sit in a wagon and hook up a battery and a gas line and fire-away!
They sound really powerful with no exhaust system and the torque nearly tips them over when you rev it up.
Vw engines are cheap and easy to…[Read more] -

I have written to FrankieD many times in recent months. I have yet to receive a reply.
He gave Mark (pinkmg) and me access to edit and delete posts. But Frank has said all along that only he can manage content or delete members.
I recall the annual hosting fees are around $100 to $150. The best way to donate used to be via PayPal. But the donate…[Read more] -

Denora, Just ask any questions here on the forum and you will get answers and advice from several knowledgeable members. We enjoy sharing our information some of which has been learned the hard way.
There is also a Chevette forum managed by Rick Drake who is a real guru as far as Chevettes are concerned. It’s easy to find ,just search for Ch…[Read more] -

It’s a low-quality build, Paul, using obsolete technology. Admirable attempt though! And quite popular in their day.

Thanks for the update on Frankie, Larry. I’ll chip in again, but I wonder if Frankie is ready to pass the reins to someone more active on the forum.

I’ve contributed to other sites so let me know where to go with some cash and what is generally considered an acceptable amount.

Anyone else notice that the picture link Ed posted leads to a picture of steel copies of our TD replicas?
Who knew they made those? -

Can’t see the wires too clearly in the shots you posted. You’re asking whether the existing wires in your kit remnant are FF(kit) or VW original, correct? The Martincic name, BTW, is a little bit famous.(or was that you who told me that?)

Glad everything worked out for you Ed. The access hole you put in was a good idea and should have been in the original design, but compared to some of the things Detroit has done it was a minor design flaw. I was a little worried about the rear axel nuts when I did my brakes too, but they came loose easier than I thought they would. Seems they…[Read more]
