Mel Just took a look at your wheels in the photo gallery. They are different to mine and look good. I have the ones that sit proud of the wheel and look like they were made by the Safeway shopping cart company. Al

Octagon:
Wires were an option on the TF, TD’s had vented steel wheels. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, personally I like wires and am very happy with my baskets.

I just sent my donation Frank.Hey gang, every little bit helps. I think we’ve covered about 75% of the cost for next year.If our gracious host lets me know exactly where we stand, we’ll share that info.My personal goal is that FrankieD spends zero out of his own pocket.

Hey Ringo I thought I read somewhere that wires were an option on TD’s in 52 . Craigar’s on a TD. Probably look good on the strip with the back end jacked and a big lump up front. Have fun while the sun still shines Al.

Thank you to everyone who have sent their donations in.
To date, I’ve received 75% of this years cost and that is AWSOME.
I started this side some years ago after purchasing our TDreplica and finding a lack of resources for owners. We have since had to part with our beloved Roxie but because of all the great people on this site, I have kept…[Read more] -

OctagonIf we’re trying for exact copy or reproduction, then forget wire wheels altogether. Real TDs didn’t have ’em! That’s what makes our cars a little more fun, setting them up the way we want them. Hmmm, I wonder what a set of Cragar SS’s would look like?

Hey CoffeyD Don’t apologize for sharing your views and opinions as that is what forums and discussions are for. The word Replica in my dictionary states:- copy and or reproduction and you sure did not see any TD’s out of Abingdon with those “cheap and tacky” baskets on the wheels. As soon as I have some spare cash in the bank I’m going to giv…[Read more]

WOW, I thought they would have hijacked a plane instead of a display car
David, is your car a CMC? -

The Classic Motor Carriages display car at Newark Airport (NJ) was a Gazelle…it was stolen!!! They guys from the SpeedTV show “Jacked” were not around back then.

David, looks like the photo didn’t load. My car was also an airport display unit. It sat for seven years at Memphis International after a stay at the Tampa International Airport. The long time sitting didn’t do the car any good and it required a lot mechanical work.
I believe the hood was up for quite sometime on mine while in the airports b…[Read more] -
CoffeyD replied to the topic "MG" horn ? in the forum VW Based Kits 15 years, 7 months ago
Air Horns are the way to go . I mounted mine in the hood area of my ford powered MGTD. Truck horns with oversized air pump, they shake the car.
Also electronic horn and a 80 watt siren driver. When you re this small you need to be loud.
Remember the movie THE MOUSE THAT ROARED

It is Painless PN 10101.
I think that means it is for the GM column.
Will throw in a foot activated dimmer switch that I had
purchased intending to use but since my column operated
dimmer turned out to work fine I didn’t use the floor
mounted one.******** SOLD 9-17-09 ********

James, if it matters to you, part number A-13705-AR (second one on the first page Ringo linked to) is similar to the map light on an original MG TC.The original TD had no map light. So you are free to do whatever you want!PMOSSBERG40072.9671759259

Ringo,
Thanks for the info. I do have a dozen of the Perko units in my parts bin. I am building a classic powerboat of teak and mahogany, similar to a Riva Aquariva (I am a former naval architect). The completion of the boat is two years away, so I may raid the bin again for the car. Already grabbed some mahogany for the dash and some of the…[Read more] -
