WOW, I could see the panic in your eyes. That would have been great for Funniest Home Videos or Youtube. A buddy of mine was joy riding his MG thru a field and the hot exhaust set the field on fire. He was leaving a path of fire. I wasn’t there, just heard about it. I could imagine your thoughts as the driver-less car was weaving around the…[Read more]

It is how my wife packs that drove me to something stout.
This was the strongest that I could find without stressing the car body or connecting the trailer.
This will hold your golf bag for sure!

What a great idea! I never thought of getting one of those SUV “tire steps” to use as a luggage rack!
An original MG TD style attaches with four bolts through the rear cover. Regardless of how I brace them under the fiberglass, I’ve always been concerned about stress cracks in the fiberglass.
The Duchess spare tire mount bolts to the steel tubes…[Read more] -

Hey Gang; The reason I chose to get a replica may have a whole lot to do with my first encounter with the real thing. It was the late 60’s and most of the guys were getting our first cars. The majority of us, myself included, had VW Beetles. The main reason for my crowd to go with those was the low cost. Muscle cars were always a dream to us,… s…[Read more]

I think I got the rack from here, Amazon.

It sure is convenient and easy. It will also stow under the passenger legs without any problem, but I plan on making a rack under the hood to stow it, I have plenty of room on the e…[Read more] -

AWESOME, you going to surprise her with massive sound waves
?
You might be getting some sound waves yourself from her
I have found the net is perfect and holds everything, large and small. I usually have small stuff under, and large stuff above. The metal strips haven’t caused any problems, but the net does all the work anyway. I did them both at…[Read more] -

Jennifer;Mark’s on the spot on this. It sure is scary when you pull one of those out of the block the first time, huh? Why something that we use so often is press fit rather than threaded is beyond me.

James,Nice! You’ve got to love having more leg room along with more storage. My Duchess has a step up floor pan under the seat (less than 2 inches between seat bottom and the stepped up floor pan) so I could raise my seat, but not lower it. Luckily, I have plenty of leg room and a good driving position. If it weren’t for the hidden hatch I’d b…[Read more]

James; Thanks for the photos. Good ideas. I’ve got a cargo net like that somewhere around here, just need to find it.
I’ve thought about the strips on the bottom but I wonder if my driving style would sling stuff from side to side too much. (NO, I can’t just slow down!) I’m guessing that it works great in conjunction with the net. Have you ro…[Read more] -

Yes, the chrome trim is the self adhesive wheel well trim that comes on a roll. I also used it on the dash (double), on the centerline of the hood, and around the edges of the carpeting as well as on the top edge of the seat. I also used it on the edges of the console where the shifter is. The stuff is pretty cheap and super easy to install.

Jennifer,
Take the part of the dipstick tube that sticks into the block and gnarl it up with a sharp pair of wire cutters. Put a few gouges and notches in it and it should press or tap right back in and stay put. Then re-insert the dipstick.
Another way is to take a tapered center punch and tap it into the block end of the dipstick tube to stretch…[Read more] -
