I lucked out and found a complete 1952 frame with side mounts on e-bay, now must have it chromed and add glass. After looking at the side mounts I think with a few mods they could work with the fiberfab frame.Nice car you have there. Good luck. Bill

There are also 3rd brake light license plate frames available. Lot’s of hot rodders use them.
Great idea Ringo…it sure makes a difference. Your car has VW taillights and mine has the real glass MG-TD assemblies. I may try LED bulbs as well as a 3rd brake light.
My 40 Ford has little Chevron shaped taillights. Some aftermarket companies are…[Read more] -

Rich,I didn’t take the seatless car on the road. But even around the complex where I was living at the time, it was a challenge. With no back rest, even mild acceleration pushed me back off the milk crate. Funny then!

Ringo…I love your story! Even better than my own first drive snow story.Along the way, in over 25 years with my kit TD, I’ve driven it in probably worse weather than my daily drivers. That’s what happens when you are driving home from somewhere, in this case Indianapolis, and run into the absolute worst rain storm I’ve ever driven in. You’ve no…[Read more]

Ringo,
Just went back and read your comments. Great story! My wife is still a little uncertain, but once the warm weather comes I think she’ll love it. She loves to drive a stick shift!

Paul,
Nice idea on the first ride. Could evolve into a first ride of the spring string as well. Have to tell the story of my first real ride in this car. I trailered it about 10 miles to a friends garage in December. Worked on it on the trailer, got it running (first time since 2001) repaired the clutch cable and one COLD Sunday morning my son and…[Read more] -

I had been looking for a TD replica for almost 2 years after my wife said she wanted a TD. I didn’t want the hassle of re-doing a real one, I just wanted to drive! I called about one listed in the paper and after talking to the owner decided it was worth a look.I got the wife to drive with me the 120 miles. She noticed the tool kit, win…[Read more]

And on his behalf, here is Rich Belfay’s first drive story, copied form another thread…
From Rich….
I went about 25 miles, top down. A little chilly still, around 50 degrees. It was kind of nice to have a working heater. The car perfomed perfect. Lots of power, smooth shifting, nice ride, frost heaves and all. I have to say that the V6 is…[Read more] -

Congratulations on the first drive Rich! Many more to come!
My first test drive in my Duchess was November 1982. I had it all done except for the interior…but just couldn’t wait any longer. I put a plastic milk crate on the floor and drive it around my condo complex.
Satisfied that it actually worked…I finished it up, then drove it for real…[Read more] -

Lots of power, smooth shifting, nice ride, frost heaves and all. I have to say that the V6 is plenty powerful for this car. Awesome! Congrats!! That is very exciting, hope all goes well. Breath in the exaust laced air, peel some rubber, and enjoy all the envious stares from everyone you pass!
Oh yeah and as far as the trip to AZ; I’ve done it twice already, takes about 3 days. Might be pretty fun in the MG I just have to wait for warm weather. I don’t really want…[Read more]

Mine is not registered yet, but the weather is nice today so I’m throwing plates on it and going for a ride!

Hey Rich!
Between the terrible economy, and a $1900 mortgage it has been difficult getting the extra money to ship it. It drives me crazy! I think about the car every day. Tax money is coming soon or worst case scenario I may drive it here myself. I fly for free (work for a major airline) so why not?
Either way, I vow to have it here in PH…[Read more] -

Steve,
I was just referring to the mention of Carb/Stalling problem in the Ebay ad, and that you mentioned that your car ran but seller said there are some minor carb issues. Could’ve just been a coincidence.

Just a note on what I have planed for my MiGi kit. I just bought a complete 1952 MG windshield with all brackets less glass, I will have to have it chromed first before installation. I also will add a fuel cap on the engine cover left side as on a real 52 MG, and last I am working on a dash center and am cutting it out of a door kick plate from…[Read more]
