Don’t see how it holds the bushing in place but I will keep the 13mm in the tool kit. Thanks for the heads up.The PO had no bushing and the shift-plate mounted upside down. A common mistake – it was amazing that it was drivable. He complained that it was hard to get it into 2nd and reverse. Easy fix.

Same is true for older Land Rovers. I plan to change that also – someday. Right now the TD is more fun.

From what I’ve observed, ALL the British cars seem to put the steering wheel too close to the driver. I sat in a real TD, a Jag 120 and XKE, and a Midget, and in each case the steering wheel fit was too close for comfort, just like my replica before I started modifying it. Yet each of the real British cars had plenty of legroom. It seems li…[Read more]

I use drums on all 4 corners stainless steel hoses & larger diameter rear wheel cylinders on paper this will work well. our cars are so light I feel that disks are a waste of money just my 2 cents

I am adjusting my steering column length so my knuckles just clear the dash. also I will use the seat back adjuster from MGmagic. not to rub it in but I lost some weight and that made a lot of room, limit fast food to once a week lol

Thanks Dave.Yup…I pretty much know or have found most (if not all) of the vendors. Those are not the style that Classic roadsters Ltd. used.I don’t need ’em. Was just trying to help TJ out. He started this thread with the comment that his brackets appear to be the same as those used on the Duchess. The Duchess’ hardware seems to be unique. The…[Read more]

Hey guysIve seen steering kits that let you remove the steering wheel with the pull of a pin. This may be an easier solution for getting in and out of the car for the big boys in the club. It works for the race car drivers.

I converted the front’s to disk about 25 years ago because all of the components needed replacement (shoes, drums, etc). I have been very happy with results. About 2 years ago I converted the back to disk for the same reason. Happy with results but a lot more work the fronts. Got kit that had emergency brake.

I did the same with my column. I put the switches on the dash and used a chrome steering shaft.

Greetings my friendsI just wanted to chime in on the brakes. I converted my front drum brakes to disk and installed an adjustable narrow front end with 2″ drop spindles. Im happy with the results.

I made the remark about adding bracing to discourage you from removing any. I’m not sure there is room to add any and not run into fitment issues with the body panels. There is a thread here on secondary door latches that a lot of us have added to keep the doors in place.

Hey Paul, try this link for the style of Wind Wing Hardware for our Classic Roadster Duchess.https://www.finishlineaccessories.com/p-328-wind-wings-hardware.aspxGood luck with this, I called and they did not return my message to them. It is very similar to what we have, and may have to be modified a little bit. Please let me know how it worked out…[Read more]

For what it’s worth, the builder of my MGr used some very basic flat steel cabinet hinges to mount the wind wings. As i continued to work on the car I discovered that he had also used some very nice polished aluminium hinges on the seat back where they don’t show at all. Switch-a-roo!

That listing is what started the wheels spinning and I am 1/2 hour from Napa, maybe get them and figure it out as I build the car.
Bill, are you getting torsional flex or rotational? Should I bethinking of some bracing now while it is a bare frame? Thanks for your thoughts.T. J. -

Schu – That is what I was talking about. I’ve searched in vain for years to try and find the wing hinges that Classic Roadsters Ltd. used on the Duchess.
