Tom, yes I have used sail repair tape on my 30 ft sailboat, works well for the last 10 + years. You need to be sure the underside of the top is super clean of dust, lint, dirt etc. you also can purchase from “Sailrite ” their single needle stitch awl. Here’s a picture from today.  Took it out all over the place…. it’s been a long time since I’ve had this much fun with a car!

And here’s the whole video I put together, just showing the steering parts moving before and after adjustment. Steering wheel play is afterward, almost same as before or maybe going from 3 inches play to 2 inches. I didn’t actually measure.

My FiberFab has a big “FF” logo molded into the cowl under the hood. That and finding a copy of a receipt from FiberFab under the seat made mine easy to identify. Failing that … you have to post pictures.

The better (and more) pictures you post, the more information about your TDr you will receive.I can almost guarantee you that we’ll figure it out.

 I used a tape that was somewhat clear and really tough with a very sticky adhesive to repair an awning on a camper I had. It worked so well, I never did replace the awning. The tape you are describing sounds like the same thing I used.
