Perhaps a bad relay (if there is one in the circuit).
Next up, maybe a bad switch?

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic What color is my '52 Duchess? in the forum VW Based Kits 3 years, 5 months ago
Bud,
Your car is likely gel coat.
But I think you are asking if the car has original MG TD factory colors. The short answer is no.

Bud,
Early Duchesses had an aluminum bar slid into the pocket at the leading edge of the roof. I never had an issue with that.
At some point, I had to replace the roof. The replacement from Classic Roadsters had a flexible “plastic” bar in the pocket. The aluminum bar from my old roof would not fit. And I started having the problem of the roof…[Read more]

John,
That’s the set up on my Intermeccanica. The fitting for the vent line is just under the gas cap. Loop it after the fitting, then run the hose down and out.
For what it’s worth, VW based Duchess have a fuel tank on the right front floor plan (Classic Roadsters Ltd. did not use VW tanks). The tank was not vented. the car was in an enclosed…[Read more]

I used to own a VW based Classic Roadsters Ltd. Duchess. I built the car in 1982. Owned it until a couple years ago.
Also have a 2005 Intermeccanica Roadster (Porsche 356 convertible D reproduction). After I bought that car, the Mg TDr started to “sit” a lot. I said it was in the corner of the garage “acquiring patina.” Sold it to an…[Read more]

I’d like to, but I keep getting a “critical error “ message as you did a few days ago with no reply.
I see you got it figured out, however. The latest instructions I could find did not work for me. I tried to post on an IPad and Windows 10. If I can get it work, I send you what I have.

John Harrison started the topic Gas Tank Vent in the forum VW Based Kits 3 years, 6 months ago
I’m working up a list of unfinished items and making plans to resolve them and I believe I need to add a vent to the pre-’68 Beetle gas tank. The neck was shortened per MiGi instructions, but I see no vent hose connection. Is it as simple (?) as soldering in a nipple for a piece of gas line and then routing it down out of the chassis? Seems pretty…[Read more]

Hello All……Newbie here…..just purchased a (1988) professional build “53” TD on a ’72 VW…..(still waiting on transport 😀 )…..it has stock exhaust and I plan to replace that with something that sounds considerably better and more “throaty”…..I have been looking at the EMPI Euro Twin Tuckaway with dual small glass packs, or maybe the…[Read more]

LOL! I read your struggles with your clutch cable replacement. That is EXACTLY why I paid to have someone else struggle with it.

The cable can be easy or it can be a deuce of a job. Here’s me struggling with the one in Bridget a few years ago.

I removed the top recently and when I put it back on, I must have changed something. Now the front keeps coming out of the groove while driving. I’m assuming that something needs adjusted (tightened?) but have tried a few things and nothing works. Any ideas?

I got my Duchess back today. The clutch cable and accelerator cable are now brand new and it cost me almost $300. Worth it, though, because now I can start putting all the new parts on it that I have been ordering since it went in for repairs.
