BEBOP replied to the topic rust removers in the forum General Discussion 10 years, 10 months ago
I used some stuff called POR to cover the light rust on the floor-board of my 63 Willys 4wd truck when I replaced the one piece rubber floor pad on the cab floor. Two or three coats of POR on both sides of the floor and the rust was sealed completely and no longer able to get wet and further oxidize. It worked great ….But it’s nasty smelling s…[Read more]

Nice! Those wire wheels and knock-offs make it look very authentic. They dont make them like That any more! Makes mine look like a rat rig. Good luck!

BEBOP replied to the topic Meguiars BOAT WAX in the forum General Discussion 11 years ago
Right, like Paul said I went to Meguiars site for boat and marine products and chose the One Step Marine and RV compound and Flagship premium Marine wax. It really does deepen the color quite a bit as it shines.

Well, I agree that you have to be super carefull with electric buffers or polishers with Fiberglass and gel-coat. The heat builds up fast if you are not carefull. I had one of those orbital buffers and mounted it upside down inside a five gallon plastic bucket, lined the inside of the bucket with sheepskin, and turned it into a great pool /…[Read more]

I had mine as a 1952 MG in Fort Worth and still had to pass the full safety inspection.
Phoenix Arizona its a 1986 Ford Cortina. (English Ford Escort), and all I have is emissions.Theres no outlet to plug into under the dash, of course, and they dont want to bother to check the tail pipe emissions manually, so I guess I get a free pass. The ne… -

BEBOP replied to the topic Chrysler Turbine Car in the forum Other Kit Cars 11 years ago
You know, I have ridden in the Chrysler turbine car quite a few times. in 1964 my best friend Calvin DeWitt’s mother won the use of one of the turbine cars for one year in a contest, in Tucson AZ of all places. I guess they wanted to test it in the desert. It was a slick car but not good on gas mileage, as I recall.

OK, thanks for the info. I could not find Shine On. I’ll try the Ultimate Quik Detailer after the Polymer sealant. I guess i’ll wipe it off with alcohol and a little rubbing compound first and hope for the best. It’s a dust bowl down here in summer in recent years.
P.S. I heard a metallic doinging niose in the driver side front end. I…[Read more]

Just thought I’d add… Theres an old gal here in SunLakes AZ who drives around in an original TD Plain dark green with steel rims not tearly as flashy as an replica I ever saw. It’s good Bebop weather out here now. Nothing else to report here except that you’all can get suitable windshield wiper blades from the Moss Motors catalog but cost…[Read more]

BEBOP replied to the topic BeBop mileage, whats yours? in the forum General Discussion 12 years, 3 months ago
Good thinking Allan. I always get less mileage from blended fuel too. I wish I’d a thought of that when I put a new elec. fuel pump on my’63 Willys 4wd truck. The first one lasted 20 years. One of those old AC pumpers that pumps a bit and shuts off when the pressure gets up when the bowl is full. You know what they look like. After much s…[Read more]

BEBOP replied to the topic BeBop mileage, whats yours? in the forum General Discussion 12 years, 3 months ago
OK thanks. The reason I asked was I had a VW bug in Germany in the army with a sunroof and a rainbow painted across the back bonnett. It was a great vehicle and got about 20 miles a gallon, but it was pretty much pedal to the metal at all times. Only thing I could pass on the Autobahn was Semi-trucks, so I stayed off it. And if you all feel…[Read more]

Same story here. I had to remove the passenger side bonnet panel in order to put points in the distributor which turned a one hour job into an all day project because one time I bought one of those Pertronix magnetic electronic distributors and out it on and it ran great up until about 2000 RPM and it would backfire. No biggie, I turned it 180…[Read more]

Mine is built on an English Ford Escort. Not so much a kit car as a complete replica built in South Africa on a new 1986 frame. I put a starter on it once with no trouble. The trouble I had was finding the correct part which I finally got out of London.

I HAD IT 14 YEARS AND WISH I HAD KEPT IT BUT MOVED TO THE BIG CITY WHERE I HAD ONLY ONE PARK PLACE. I ALWAYS DREAMED ABOUT PUTTING UP A COBRA REPLICA BUT GOT OLD TOO FAST. I think you probably have a problem with your fuse panel. I had to replace mine once and couldn’t find the exact one so I had to put in two smaller ones, in series, in order to house all the fuses. By the way, I finally found a suitable mechanical trip-reset VDO speedometer on Craigs list but had to enlarge the hole in the dash board a bit to…[Read more]

The MORE CARBS, the BETTER! As a general rule, But, before the TD I had a ’72 MGB with two carbs and replaced them with a Weber 2-barrel conversion kit and it was a lot less work in the long run and probably faster too.
