Hi Bovi,
Welcome to the site. There’s alot of helpful people here. The Ford/Chevy kits had their own frame that came with the kit. The donor was used for the motor, transmission, front axel etc.
I think if you search the site you will find assembly manuals that have been transposed electronicly. If not just ask, Iam sure someone will send you…[Read more] -

My Chevette TD has a cat (a gutted out one) and during assembly I made a Stainless steel heat shield for protection just to be sure. A working cat can get very hot. I left an air space between the fiberglass floor pan and the shield. I have put on over 2000 miles and have had no problem.

Hi Guy’s
I may be off base, could this be a loose baffel in the muffler of converter? I have had rattly mufflers before.

Hi Dick,
The sender should be to the right of the distributer, under the intake manifold. Or at least it is on my 84 chevette td. It is tucked in and difficult to see.
Good luck, Bill -

Geoff,
Well it was a great plate #. Unfortunatly it’s been taken. So I will have to be creative and find a plate # on my own. I hope they enjoy it.
Thanks again, Bill -

Hi Geoff,
Thanks for the plate info. I will see if I can get it. Do you have your car home yet? You will have plenty of sunny days to enjoy it there, not like our chilly NY weather.
Thanks again! Bill

Hi Dick,
It sounds as if you changed all the major componets. Did you have a front end or 4 wheel alignment done? I don’t know if that will help your problem, but it will not hurt. Thats what I did afer the assembly to be sure the car tracked correctly. Also be sure the rear axel is stable. My car (chevette TD kit) handles well at highway speeds…[Read more] -

Bill Hursh replied to the topic Tire Size & Air Pressure for VW Based Kit in the forum General Discussion 16 years, 9 months ago
Hi Ed,
I checked the size of my tires on my chevy based TD. They are P195 75/R14. I run the tire pressure at mfg recomdations. I also had a shake in my car upon the completed assembly. I found 2 things that helped. The tires on the car during assembly, though new, had flat spots from setting for extended periods. The other thing I found, the…[Read more]

Hi Ed,
Nice looking car! My Chevette based TD is on blocks in storage at this time,(upstate NY is kinda cold for these cars) so I can’t help you now. When warmer weather gets closer & its back on the wheels again I will be happy to check the dimension you are looking for. I know my springs were cut to the assembly specks.

I have a Chevette kit. During the assembly the original chevy front coil springs were to be cut shorter in order to make the car level. My car had that done during the assembly and it sits level and she drives wonderfuly. I will dig out my manual and let you know how much to cut off.

Bill Hursh replied to the topic Fiberfab Chevette TD question in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 17 years, 5 months ago
I don’t. My car has smooth chrome wheels with a spoked basket which bolts on where the hub cap commonly goes. They arn’t real spokes but they do look 10 times better than the cheesy spoked hubcaps. I think MG magic in Fla can help or try any auto/ speed shop and you should be able to find them.
Good luck, Bill
