I really like that wheel, John. I’m going to have to pick your brain about it because I would love to do something like that for my car.

Hi Bill, Charlene and I will be going this year and towing just to be safe. We will be heading out on Thursday morning as well so maybe we could meet up at the Turkey Hill in Denver again if that works for you.

I cleaned mine by using some Kerosene and an old Chain. Dropped in the tank and shook it forever.Poured it all out and rinsed with more.Used a Jc Whitney product to coat the inside of the tank. Been using for 10 plus years.

Sounds good Ed.
It looks like Dean ( Dbanta ) won’t make the Thursday run with us – work issues.Hopefully he will hook up with us on Friday for dinner or Saturday and maybe cruise back on Sunday. -

I can get there on I-70 in about an hour-15. So, count me in.

I took a nice stereo out of Bridget for just that same reason.
Fuel tank gunk can be cleaned. Is it rotted out? If not, clean it. You can also coat the inside with POR 15 or similar. But maybe don’t need. The rubber fuel lines–replace. Put a new fuel filter six inches from where the tank lets out. Put another one in the rubber fuel line in front of… -

Looks like a Glory Days sports bar is right off Rt 15 in Frederick so will post that address shortly.
Timing will be based on our trip north but guessing 12:30-12:45.Will post up shortly with complete directions and timing. -

Wow! That looks like a decent price on the “Snoopy hat.” And those split-lens “RAF style” googles are temptingly cheap.
Temptingly! But I am hereby recommending to all that, if you plan to actually wear the goggles while driving, spring for the genuine Halcyons. They are three times the price, yeah. But they actually fit comfortably. Bikers swear by… -

That Flat 4 is about the closest thing to an original TD wheel you can get without modding an original TD wheel.

wish I could make it up for that but I am slammed: neither the car, the garden, nor the 4-post lift is yet ready for action. All needs doin’, along with a dump run, an oil change on the truck and probably a half dozen other chores I can’t even remember right now. Dang!

edward ericson replied to the topic brooklands windscreens in the forum VW Based Kits 9 years, 11 months ago
They both are available more reasonably elsewhere.

I wear glasses all the time. Mine are not enough for me to avoid the sting of the wind when driving open. I may just have sensitive eyes though.
Steve: right: Proper RAF goggles and a righteous leather pilot’s helmet are the only way to fly. I might even buy a summer-weight one. -

I’m gonna try to make the meet. Right now I have a DR appt that ends at 11, so it might be a tight run out to Frederick…
As for Rt 15 eateries: sorry. -

Ed,
You going to meet us for lunch in Frederick on Thursday?Know a good place along Rt 15 to eat? Thought maybe you had spent some time driving through.I will google the area. -
edward ericson replied to the topic brooklands windscreens in the forum VW Based Kits 9 years, 11 months ago
Cool but remember this: if you drive around with the Brooklands screens as the only thing between you and the oncoming wind, you’ll probably want at least a pair of wrap-around glasses on your face as well. Every year I forget at least once and end up on the highway doing 50 with monster pain and squinting and then one eye closed and then the other.

The last time I had that exam, I was checked, prodded, fondled and probed like never before. It was the most thorough exam I had ever experienced. About ten seconds after the doctor left the room, the nurse came in and asked “Who was that guy?”

Sounds exhausting to me. Glad you’re on the mend. I second your screening advice. Wife made me do it years ago. No problems found them but I guess I’ll get to do it again in a few years.
