Roy’s memory is definitely a blessing. He was generous, mischievous and just the right kind of silly—but you’d never want to have to fight him.
He was a real builder: helped put together two of Jack Breza’s cars and adapted the hubs on his MiGi to fit real wire wheels by himself.
Nuclear sub commander, and ran a bed & breakfast for years.

I’d try Rock Auto and look for the rear shocks for a 1977 Chevette.

That number shock fits Beetles ’67-’77 if that helps.

Bill this is fantastic. Your air-fuel ratios are going to be on the money, and throttle response will improve.

Worth noting that you can post any photo from the internet–your own or someone else’s–by right clicking it, choosing “copy image address,” and then pasting it here using that two jagged mountains icon, second from right in you icons bar above the text posting window. As in this selection from my Spyder build blog:

A reprint of photo posting instructions provided by the great Ed Ericson:
First you go to your own thing. Upper right corner it should say something like “Howdy, Happy Jack.” Click on that and you get a drop-down menu. At the bottom it says “media.” Hover over that with your curser and you should see another drop-down menu with “albums,…

I’ve found that you cannot post photos from an iphone or ipad. Gotta use the desktop or laptop.

Bit the bullet and sprung for Holley’s Sniper EFI conversion kit. It replaces the 4 barrel carb with throttle bodies. Had to upgrade the electric fuel pump and filters and run a vent line back to the tank and run a few wires. Damn thing would not fire. An hour and a half on hold over the course of two days with Holley Tech Line and problem r…[Read more]

The cable can be easy or it can be a deuce of a job. Here’s me struggling with the one in Bridget a few years ago.

This year the dune buggy guys are setting up an epic valve cover race track which will be on the showfield. There are a few cars with bucket seats. On a VW pan-based car, the tunnel spreads out toward the back and makes it hard to fit a wide seat and impossible to move it further back, but you can lean it.

billnparts replied to the topic Bucket seats in a TD Replica in the forum General Discussion 3 years, 6 months ago
If you’re looking for more room, cutting the seat back for height and moving it back onto the storage area is quite easy. Just mount it where you’re comfortable. Perfect time to add seat heaters.
