3/4-inch wide strip with flat hood under it. On the windshield side there is an end piece–cap. On the front it’s open like a very tiny air scoop. Assume I’m missing that piece.

I don’t think mine’s on an elevated hump. But I’m not near enough to check it.

Aircooled.net has Amsoil synthetic. pricey at $11 a quart but what do we need? 2, maybe 3 quarts?I think I also need a 17mm allen wrench.

Mine is(was) just a stick on molding cut from a roll. Just pick the width you want.

Hot debate, looks like. I will get some GL-4 for Bridget.BTW. Tranny oil is like a 60,000 mile change. My car doesn’t even have that many miles on it. (Though not sure about the transaxle).I’m thinking this is a one-and-done job.edsnova2013-03-13 15:07:22

Mine’s metal and held on by posts. Thinking of replacing it with the same stick-on junk I used on my dashboard. They sell it in several thicknesses & it seems to be all in the $20-a-roll neighborhood. I’m thinking half-inch would look close. Easy-peasy.

Very cool, boys! I looked at Allen’s pics last night, started writing yet another irrelevant post, realized I had no idea what I was talking about, and despaired. (I always despair on those rare occasions when I myself realize that I don’t know what I’m talking about).Glad to see more competent heads prevailed.

I understand MINI will be using a 3 cyl in 2014 along with the BMW 1. Projections are 50 hp per cyl. Each cyl 50cc. Modular engine based on their current straight 6. … 150 hp 1.5 3, 200 hp 2.0 4 etc.

They were VW or Nissan 200 SX. The SX engine was an overhead cam, dual-plug job with a 5 speed, as I recall it. Would make a really peppy TD.Don’t know what the wheel specs were but did see a VW 4-bolt pattern true wire bolt on that you couldn’t tell wasn’t a Dunlap knock-off if you weren’t staring at it through the spokes. One of the members had…[Read more]

Thanks Paul, and Don. Looks like you guys have the relevant info here.To Paul’s question: the BCW windshield fram comes apart at the corners. There are steel L brackets at the top edges, four holes in them, and small, fine-thread screws go through the aluminum outer frame and into those brackets to attach the pieces together. On the bottom it’s…[Read more]

You will find that the TD windshield is slightly trapezoidal–a little more than 90 degrees on the top angles. But not much. Square is probably OK. If it’s upside-down trapezoidal–less than 90 degrees on the top, THEN you’ve got to cut. I’d mock it up with the side rails first. They’ll need to be straight, and the distance between them on the…[Read more]

Look around. I might grab some of these Alumiweld rods just on general principle.I believe that one of our Speedster pals might have something to do with this company.BTW, I don’t understand what you’re saying in your first post. Is the bottom windshield bracket too long, or isn’t it? Because if you make the top bracket shorter, and leave the…[Read more]
