I had put mine away for the Winter until I woke this morning to 55 degree weather. I took it from off its stands and took it to work today. The mad dash at lunch somehow took longer than usual. Should be in the sixties when I leave to go home. Will probably go cross country and take in Duryea Drive up to the Reading Pagoda on the way. Love these…[Read more]

Very nice, Richard. Having bought the Halcyon MK 8’s I’m going to hold out for a prescription solution that works with them, if possible. If it doesn’t work I’ll go with something from those guys. And another brilliant, lucky cruisin’ day here in central MD–nearing 60 degrees around noon I hopped in Bridget for yet another mindless spin around…[Read more]

Maybe worth a try, but I think it’s only going to pivot a little bit before it hits the cowl. The MG windscreen pivots on a bracket about two inches above the height of the hood.
–note: the square aluminum plate there was the P.O.’s attempt at making a mirror bracket. I removed it.UPDATE: Looked at your bracket and I think it’ll work. Looks…[Read more]

Montie: The idea is to take the picture as it comes, straight from the
digi-cam, and not smallify it for posting here. We are limited on this
board to 500kbs.I saved the above photo and it is about 250k. I re-saved it as a jpeg, best quality at about 940k. That’s a little short of my 2 mb goal, but it might be good enough. I PM’d you my email so…[Read more] -

When I was looking for these last year I saw a bunch go on the ‘bay for about $100 each. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. That was a bit under Moss’s usual gouge but seemed rich to me still. I hunted around and ended up getting a pair shipped for about $170. They’re $80 each plus shipping out of this place. If I were buying them…[Read more]

Good point on being seen.I myself have installed a vintage Lucas SFT 576, which is not yet wired in. My hope is that it will provide a little light, but what I really need to do is replace the old incandescent headlamps with some modern ones so i can see at night.

OK then. But a fair number of folks who know more than we do have set general suggestions for engine building that I have, myself (and with unhappy results), tried to defy. The basic formulation goes about like this: if you want to build something out of junk (aka well used engine blocks or cases; cranks with .030 already turned off them,…[Read more]

MGLondon: Let me know how you do with the prescriptions-into-goggles project. I made a few calls after I got mine (split lenses) & came up empty. Only reason I don’t wear them driving is I can’t see worth a damn & they are very uncomfortable when worn over glasses.

That $3300 one might be a deal, particularly if the engine is fresh, as advertised.

Welcome, Stacks.Good move on the wiring diagram. The Samba web site also posts a lot of tips and diagrams for VW people.Mirrors are a common issue. I think most of us have motorcycle mirrors of one description or another, mostly mounted to the windshield frame. My own are from, I think, a Yamaha and they actually bolt through the lower bracket’s…[Read more]

Richard, PM’d you.Roy, that’s a great idea. Front is the 13th photo though, so maybe there if I don’t just gleep Richard’s wheels collage. This, of course, assuming I can make a collage with the software I have on my computer….And yes, I want to have a different car for every month. Right now we’re three or four months shy of that goal. You guys…[Read more]

OK. Better cover shot found–Wobby’s “hubcaps” collage:
That said, the recent shots Rich has posted, including an excellent mountain climb pic, are very much on the small side for calendar work. Since the calendar prints are 8 x 11, our max 500kb size limit makes it hard to get usable shots straight off the forum. I’ve been resizing them on my…[Read more]
