Put a charged battery in; readings are about the same–11 volts at rest and 12 when running. Think the meter is about 1.2 volts off.

The adaptors will add 3/4 inch to your track, more or less, each side. And what is the offset on the wires? Might add more width still. Instead of adaptors, you might consider having your hubs drilled to the desired bolt pattern. The Speedster guys have this done all the time & say it’s $100. Love to see the photos of this. I took all the small leaves out of my front beam–six upper and six lower. Still not sure if I will have to put some back. Leave them alone for now. Tape them up. Fix all the grounds first. THEN see if there’s something that still doesn’t work.Trying to find a “use” or purpose for all the loose wires on a zillion-year-old car that someone else adapted wiring to is a fool’s errand.
