Wow, Bob, that’s some heavy stuff. Sorry to bring it all out of you like this but thanks for sharing it. You’re among friends.

Yes, it was. Worked out pretty good, too. I had a dedicated support crew along with a standby ambulance with EMT’s and a tow truck.
I never got to the video Sunday. Spent the day trying to reclaim some working room in the garage.

Sorry for your loss, Ric. I didn’t know the folks personally but met Rob once or twice at an awards thing and knew John by reputation as well. These folks were the heart and soul of the craft, and I’m still sorting through my own emotions.
That this came about in part because a reporter or columnist wrote about a court case—a very small h…[Read more]

Roy, I can’t answer that question, yet. I just got it sorted out on the Tuesday before the hill climb. The track conditions were terrible with the rain. I can tell you that in a straight line it puts you back in the seat and puts a huge smile on your face. I did not experience any understeer, but with wet roads I had some oversteer. I need seat t…[Read more]

Folks I’m not usually trying to bring downer stuff around here but reportedly, four of my fellow ink-stained wretches were shot today while working at the Annapolis Capital & Gazette. A lone gunman appeared at the glass door and unloaded a fucking clip into the fucking newsroom.
And I am sitting at my desk in tears.
Here’s the editor, a few…[Read more]

Well, this is the end result. I had the radiator taken apart and re cleaned and installed a larger cooling fan. The fan will require some re engineering to mount the headlamp brackets together. We ran with no front body work. We did it…it works.

Plausible but I don’t understand why you’d relocate the steering rack. It should be in a pretty positive “stock” location, and if you raise it up won’t it tend to keep your tie-rod angles in the cockeyed condition they’re in?

Glad it’s running. New springs are in order. Cutting one coil increased the spring weight by ten percent. Cutting the second coil it went up ten percent from that rate. I did that myself and it rode like a rock.
Two more steps on your pictures. The screen where you clicked on “copy image”, click on “edit” instead. Then click on “ copy image”. …[Read more]

Ric, congratulations! Now it’s just down to sorting.
I don’t know about the photo problem maybe someone else will chime in.

The sure way to find it is to start at the driver’s side from wheel and trace the brake line until you get to the thing with all the other brake lines coming out of it. There will be two bolts fastening it to a bulkhead. In a VW pan that would be the “Napolean’s Hat” cross member just behind the front wheels. I think your chassis is custom but…[Read more]

Good on ya Ric.
And a good question. I think the oil light has its own sending unit which is pretty much universal, and gauges have their own which have to match the gauge. But someone else might have the for-sure answer.

Once more into the breach!

So, after already running a 180* thermostat and being surprised by how hot she runs, i pulled the thermostat and gutted it. In lieu of eliminating it I left the large flange in place and was left with a one inch hole to maintain a small bit of restriction to the flow. Hoping this helps.

I can always go back in and…[Read more]
