  • I have also replaced the VW floor pan, fiber glassed all rust holes, and spray painted three coats of high gloss black Rustoleum paint. I have also replaced the shifter rod plastic bearing, and new Yoke at the transmission. I put on new shocks as well, and now my wife has given me a budget that I can spend each month!! At least she supports my…[Read more]

  • Every one’s opinion is sincerely appreciated. At a major car show today in Lakeland, Fl, there was an original MG that was REPAINTED during a major restoration in 2007. The owner ( a doctor) is a “Classic MG purist” and he had his body webbing painted and he has had no cracking paint on the webbing. I will follow several suggestions, and tape…[Read more]

  • Thanks Paul, tapping the little webbing wil be a challenge    Dave

  • Greetings and Welcome to this great site, with very knowledgeable members. I too have a “Classic Roadsters Duchess”, (Herbie which I built in 1985) You will not find a bracket for your “Wind Wing” as I have already contacted MG Magic. Your best option, is to use one of your other brackets, and have a duplicate made at a machine shop. If you do…[Read more]

“Herbie” spent some time outside during a long time ago divorce, and his British Racing Green color became quite faded. I tried several products of rubbing compounds and waxes, to no avail. I used 1000 grit wet sanding, and then a Boat Marine product called “Penatol”. It is a liquid fiberglass restorer, that you wipe on with a lint free towel. It…[Read more]

  • To make the cleaning of the wire terminals easier, and the cleaning of all of the grounded contact surfaces easier, I purchased the small driscoll like tool from Harbor Freight tools. It costs less then $10 and does an excellent job of precision work on the cleaning of the wire terminals and the spades on the gauges. I also used a little…[Read more]

  • Thanks to ya ll for the advice on replacing “Herbie” muffler. Paul, I did my build in 3 months, because the guys at work were betting on the odds if I would ever finish my MGTD build. Yes it took long hours, late, late nights, but the Classic Roadsters manual, was quite detailed. The only challenge was the wiring, but I used “Colored Marker Pens”…[Read more]

  • Welcome to our sunny, and warm state of Florida. I live in Lakeland, just south of the Villages, so it might be nice to meet and go for a drive. I have a 53 TD made by “Classic Roadster” called the “Dutchess” when they made them back in the 1980s. Currently “Herbie” is undergoing a body off frame, restoration, so he is just hanging out in my…[Read more]

  • Hey Duk, I am doing the same thing to “Herbie” (Classic Roadster 53 MGTD) that I originally built in 1985. I am doing a body off frame, total restoration, including new floor pans, brakes, fuel and brake line, all new. The best info I can give you, is to buy a good quality set of full floor pans. Do not get lured into buying the cheap Brazil…[Read more]

  • Gene, you might try Moss Motors in California. They are an orginal parts supply for many English and German antique cars. I thought (could be wrong though) that they had a Chrome Grill Shell for an orginal MGTD. Good luck, please let me know………….Dave
