January 12, 2014 at 3:50 pm #259341Hi Guys
The Top should fit fiberfab Kits. I have a MIGI II Fiberfab Kit and it works fine. I called John at Mgmagic and told him what I had when I purchased it and he said the top he sent me would fit fine and it did. As for the side panels, they are side curtains which zip on to the top and snap on to the door etc. The rear window does not zip out.You can see the what the top looks like on the Mg Magic web site. When you see the web open arrow down a little and you will see an MG with a white top installed, its just like mine I have for sale. Their web site is mgmagic.homestead.comLet me know if you have any other question.November 1, 2013 at 4:14 pm #258639Roy I could not find the rivets any where. So I drilled out the rivets on the steering wheel and where the rivets were on the back side I filled the holes with walnut doll. I took the dish part to a Polishing company in Sarasota and had them flatten the dish and polish it. Then I took the polished part and reinstalled it using no. 6 1 inch long stainless steel screws instead of the rivets. When drilling the rivet I used a smaller drill then the rivet its self because the counter sunk hole left by the original rivet acted like a stop for the new screws. Also I did not screw the screws into the plugged hole but just next to them where the wood was much deeper. Also I used a very small amount of epoxy on the ends of each screw to make sure it bonded. Hope this helps. Any other questions pls. let me know.
June 4, 2013 at 7:46 am #256304Well Paul that is about what was done for me. Ron at Sunshine Auto Garage had to make a push rod for the brake but everything works great. I have had it checked also by my close friend from our VW club who owns a classic car repair shop while we changed the master cylinder and says it was done very well.
If anyone has a question on how it was done they can call Ron at Sunshine Auto Garage in Sarasota, they do complete VW resto’s. If you give him my name he will remember.
Just trying to help her out with an idea.Mark K2013-06-04 07:48:12
June 3, 2013 at 3:16 pm #256302HI Wendy
I’ll bet you that your legs are not as short as mine!!!. I had the complete pedal assembly moved closer the seat on the tunnel. A little costly but didn’t have to put on pedal blocks on etc. It would probably work for you also.

May 3, 2013 at 12:28 pm #255675Kent I’ll post some pic’s as we go along with the seat design etc. hopefully with in a week or so.
May 3, 2013 at 10:17 am #255669Well guys have decide to make a seat for my TD. Can’t find what I need and don’t want to pay out a lot of $$$ for a seat and find it will not fit.
I am going to be working with a friend who does auto restoration work and upholstery work who offered to help me build them. So hopefully I should have the frame made by next week and will send pic’s. Once we have the frame built we should be able to design the upholstery it etc. If all goes well I should have the proto type done in about 3 weeks.
May 2, 2013 at 10:41 am #255656Kent I have been looking all over the place for new seats and came across one at AppleTreAuto.com They have a Slim Line Off Road seat that looks nice and is 19 inches wide. Don’t know if it would work maybe still to wide.
I may just build one. Have a friend that is a very good auto upholster that said he would help me. If I do I’ll let you know.

MgMagic.intuitwebsites.comApril 7, 2013 at 9:45 pm #255344Do you have a electronic idle shut off screw on the right side of your carb. or a mechanical screw in place.
I have a 30 pict carb and could never get it to work right, until I replaced the electronic idle shut off with a mechanical one.
The adjustment screw on the left side of the carb. didn’t work correctly until I changed it out. Then it worked like a charm, go figure.
Only other thing maybe a vacuum leak at the base of the carb. which I also had because the manifold was not flush with the carb. base and had to be filed it level and re-place the gasket.
Hope this helps. Mark

March 2, 2013 at 4:12 pm #254764New Walnut Dash roughed in and ready for final sanding & varnish. Varnish I wil be using is Z Spac Captain’s Varnish. It is a marine varnish which is very good and very durable. installing Auto Meter Gauges (Golden Oldies Series). Hope to have it completed next week. Won’t install the dash though until the new part is ready for the gauges, most likely the latter part of March.

January 27, 2013 at 12:51 pm #254267Hi Allen hope all is well in GA. Are you going to come to our car show in August here in Sebring Fl.?
January 27, 2013 at 12:50 pm #254290Not sure.
I think a will unbolt the shifter on the tunnel and see whats going on there first then double check the trans. Shouldn’t be because its cold because I ive in Florida and the weather is in the 80’s.May try repplacing the trans fluid if can’t find a problem in the tunnel area.January 27, 2013 at 11:42 am #254265Took the non electric cutoff idle jet off the 30 pict 1 carb. and put it on my 30 pict 2 carb and it took care of my. With the electic cutoff idle jet it place the carb before ran to rich etc. and did not preform well at all.
January 27, 2013 at 10:15 am #254264I was thinking of taking a non electric (cutoff) idle jet from a 30 pict 1 carb. and install it on my 30 pict 2 carb which I think should work.
Had not thought about lopping off the electronic it one.September 16, 2012 at 2:54 pm #251835Hi Allen my wife Donna and I will be going. Several from our local VW club will also be going.
Let me know where you want to meet. I may bring my TD if I can get a few things done on her.June 1, 2012 at 8:20 pm #250747Royal, The heads were given to me by a friend and were already fly cut and completely rebuilt. Additionally a friend fly cut the block etc. We up graded to the 85.5mm/1600cc pistion and jugs and replace the cam with a 100 eagle cam.We worked on it today and with the cylinder gasket only inplace we found that that piston to head clearance would be 57 thousandths which should work fine, very close to 60 thousandths which we think is close to stock.
Should anyone else have any suggestions I am open to all.June 1, 2012 at 11:09 am #250745The cranshaft is standard & polished, the engine case and heads have been fly cut and I am using a 100 eagle cam and 85.5 mm piston and cylinders. Some say I should use a 60 thousandths clearance and others say I can go to 45 clearance which would mean just install the cylinders & pistons whichout shims etc. Very confusing for a newbe.
April 2, 2012 at 9:28 am #249938Thanks for the offer.
I purchased the instruments some time ago which I intended to install later this year.April 1, 2012 at 2:16 pm #249936Roy you might be right regarding the Tach. dying. I am sure it was old when I got the car probably from the 70’s. I am still learning and wanted to check and make sure I was covering the bases in checking it out.
I planned on pulling the dash this summer to replace all the instruments, and refinish it, along with going through all the eclectric wiring and updating it. So if the Tach is indeed shot not a big deal.March 29, 2012 at 12:53 pm #249819Well got back in town and my friend came over and fixed th problem.
First the coil and electronic ignition that I took out for some went bad.Second he went over all the items I put in and checked the distrib. and that was in right. We had current etc. at the coil but still no spark from the coil to the distrib.Well to make a long story short I had put the choke wire on the – negative side of the coil not the plus + side which kept the coil from sending current to the distrib. Several wires were the same color so I just put them back on in the wrong order. Then we re-adjusted the timing, which I had close.Lesson learned if you take something off make sure you write down what is what and what wire goes where. I have started a book of my own as I work on the car for future reference. Thanks again everyone for all the input to try and help me.March 24, 2012 at 9:12 am #249818Thanks Allen for the help.
We have got to go out of town today and will work on it when I get back next week. I talked to a friend in our VW club here last night who builds VW racing engines and he said he would come over next week and help me correct the problem and show we steps for the future, plus teach me various things which will be great. I’ll write and let everyone know what we find. Good learning project.By the time I get done with these types of learning projects and finish the rebuild of an extra engine I purchased to learn on with a friends is help, I may yet get out out of grades school machanics.
