Wow! Good job!
This thread reminds me: I’ve got some dodginess in my tail lights as well. Spent half a day last year looking for shorts, bad grounds, weak bulbs, corrosion, etc. Everything checked out, and one side is dimmer than the other. I bet one side is mis-wired.

That settles it! Paul, where’s your house on this map? And when are you going on vacation, so we can all show up, empty your freezer onto your grill, and lounge in your pool?

Hey, Cliff: Welcome aboard. If your car really has 100 horsepower it will be one of the stronger TD replicas out there. It weighs about 1800 pounds (200 less than the original TD), and has twice the power of a stock VW engine.
A few Julys ago, I saddled-up my 1500-cc(?), 46-horse BCW, loaded in a couple day’s provisions, and my wife, and drove…[Read more]

Thanks for posting that, Paul. I think I want to do it…
And yeah, Allen, there have been a couple cruises from the Carlisle field that included covered bridges. Probably time to resurrect.

I consider the second one a spare. If the one you’re using ever fails, clean the terminals and plug in the other one.

I mapped out a prospective run in Northern Delaware a few years ago, ending at Stoney’s, a British pub. But it never came together.

That does look like fun. Last couple years, I’ve been doing the Historic Races at Lime Rock on that weekend…maybe switch it up this year if people are into it.

Like Bill said. Check all the things. Make sure there is no air in the system (a problem in my car with the engine so far away from the grill). Make sure you have a good fan shroud, good thermostat, good water pump, fan belt, fan (turned the right way), all that good stuff.
If all that checks out, and she still overheats, then think about cutting…[Read more]

Nice, Tom. Driving!
I like an oil pressure gauge & currently use a Smiths dual oil pressure/coolant temp gauge like this. The correct TD version is more money and only reads to 220F (100C). Eventually I’ll get round to printing a white face to make mine match the other gauges on my dash…
Gas gauge could be a simple ground or broken wire but…[Read more]

edward ericson replied to the topic Specialty Bolt/Screw Question in the forum General Discussion 9 years, 3 months ago
Long as you’re welding anyway you could just weld the nut on and cinch the ground strap on with the bolt & a washer or two. Good idea to do several ground straps on these cars and/or run a negative ground wire from the battery with a few sets of terminals on it.

If I already had a Buick/Rover aluminum V8 that was built as a race motor I would not have trouble making the decision. The RV8 can bolt right to the T-5 with the proper bellhousing, which is available.
That said…check the width of those blocks. The RV8 might be about the same as, or even a little wider than, the 350 chebbie (and so too the…[Read more]
