Larry, Yes I know, SHE corrected me too.  Said something like I was way kind and she hasn’t seen 100 lbs since about 6th grade.   I guess I guessed light.

I had my replacements made at a local plastic fab shop.  total cost was I think $30.00.  I redesigned them a little larger (see my photos), they work great and didn’t break the bank.  I already had the hindges on the car from the old ones so it was easy.

But once they are done all you do is drive and keep them clean.  Oh, I forgot, the’re never quite done, always something else we want to do, change or improve.

My insurance is with State Farm.  Not as a daily driver but no restriction for low milage either.  Had to get it apraised thur one of their approved apraisers and my agent took pictures of it to have on file.  About $300 a year for full coverage 18,500 replacement value.

I checked again, the complete code is  DOT BFJ7 AF1458.. Ed your prob right on the “98.  This is the old spare off Audrey.  Sure a shame to trash these tires, all 5 still look new, even still have the little nubbin’s on them.   Better safe than, well, most anything else when it comes to tires.   Guess they would make really good tire swings.  Montie

Congrats Pat,  Glad you got the deal to work.   I bought mine a couple years ago, about the same mileage but mine was built in ’86 and in storage most of her life.   I replaced alot on her the first year buy loved every turn of the wrench.   Montie

It looks like he did something similar to mine.  I had the back narrowed 1″ on each side and moved it to the top of the tub instead of in front of it.  It is still hinged so you can adjust the angle, upper side mounts had to be moved too but was well worth the work.  I gained about 3″ to 4″ of space between me and the steering wheel.  It…[Read more]

The seat botoms look different, did he do something to make them contoured?  Extra foam or something?  I think all of us are trying different things to make the bottoms more confortable, anyway more than a board with foam and vinyl on it.  Montie

I was at my local parts house today checking out the oils and oil additives… STP has the ZDDP in it too.  Has anyone had much experience with it.  I didn’t even know they still made that stuff.  I used it in an old hot rod ’62 Lincoln my dad gave to my brother and I back in ’68.  We ran the @#$% out of that thing.  I was only 17-18 at the time. 

Great..  Fun starts now, right.  I’ve torn several bugs down in the past, some were cake,,,, some, well lets just say a smoke wrench (torch) was not just handy but a necessity..
