I use the hood prop rod that was on mine when I bought it usually, but for shows and even when I need more access, I have a old bow string (red and white to match the car)that I loop around the latch and hook to the body. It gives a lot more visibility and access.

If it turns out to be the cable, I have some type of VW clutch cable in my tool box from 30-35 years ago when I was playing with bugs, sand rails, baha bugs etc. Really know idea of what it fits, but I can measure the length to see if it matches. I found an old ’56 T-bird HT the other day, I wonder if that could be made to fit. The guy wanted $500 for it, probably a good buy but I didn’t grab it.

Mine is a Ford with auto too with a few seat mods and I’m over 6′ too.

With all this talk about insurance I thought I would get a price from Hagerty to compare, they were about 120.00 more than State farm per year.

Are they ever finished though? Mine is technically done but there is still several things I want to do to it. You know, money, time etc.

I’ve thought of it but never tried. Even thought of replacing side panels and hood with ones off a real TD. If I ever get a chance to buy them (cheap) might try it. Not sure how close they are in size.

I’ve still got my insurance with State Farm along with my house and other cars. Set Agreed value from their appraiser 18,500. About $230 a year full coverage with 12,000 mile limit per year. I had to take to one of their approved appraisers and get a written appraisal when I first bought it.

I haven’t laughed so hard since the ’60’s.

I’ve heard of a couple of small manufactures/builders one in southern Indiana and a family operation here in Dayton Oh. The one here in Dayton was only around about a year, build maybe 5-10 cars. Mine must be missing the cardboard, it’s just open under there. For speakers I built a console box of sorts.
