Hi Dale.
No.

New Jersey Replicar Club (http://www.njreplicar.org) is open to all kit cars and home builts. -

Gator,
It will depend on who manufactured your kit. Some of the kits used reproduction MT-TD parts for the grill and bumpers. They are easy to get, although they may be pricey.
You wrote a “northern company”. If you have a Classic Roadsters Duchess (company is in Fargo North Dakota), your car uses repro original TD parts.
Rechroming is always an…[Read more] -

Hey Schu,
Sounds like it all worked as it should. Removing leaves softens the suspension, so it will sit lower when you drop the car back to the ground.
Maybe you just typed wrong, but I believe there are four main bars (the wide ones in the middle), with three narrow bars on top and three on bottom. You can remove the narrow bars. You should…[Read more] -

The mirror I described has the same bolt pattern. Let me know if you want measurements/pictures. Here it is for $17 http://www.cobraaccessories.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPa th=42&products_id=194
I picked up a replacement license plate light at Carlisle kit car show a few years ago. These are pretty standard parts, used on a lot of kits.…[Read more] -

Bill,
Any chrome gas cap will fit the filler pipe provided by Classic Roadsters. Classic Roadsters provided a “flying lady” ornament for the gas cap. I thought it looked silly and left it off.
I know of a couple sources for the fender mirrors. These are reproductions of original MG TD mirrors. Moss Motors has them if you want to pay top dollar. I…[Read more] -
Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Tire size for duchess in the forum VW Based Kits 19 years, 9 months ago
Bill,
165 R15 is the standard VW Beetle size radial tire. These days the equivalent is 165 80R/15. That’s more tire than an original TD. I have them on my Duchess on stock VW wheels, simply beucase I wanted something close to the original look. My car is in the gallery under PMOSSBERG.
With the 165s, there is a lot of clearance on my Duchess. Ba…[Read more] -

Slogram,
Classic Roadsters provided a serial number plate, which the manual said should be riveted to the front of the “firewall” on the driver’s side. Of course, it’s only going to be there if the builder of the car chose to rivet it in.
I do not know what the BCW or any other manufcturers did, if anything.

Slogram,
I agree with the comments re theBCW.
Classic Roadsters’ Duchess was in the same league. except for the windshield frame, most of the hardware was reproduction MG TD pieces.
I built my Duchess in 1983 and she’s still running and looking great.

For what it’s worth…I wouldn’t vote for any of the above. But “no slogan” was not a choice. 🙂
I would just put http://www.mgreplica.com on the back in lieu of any slogan. Most of what I see above would keep me from buying any shirts.
But that’s just me. I’m not a fan of shirts with “slogans”
That said, one possible alternative, and only because I have…[Read more] -

Hi Buzzard (not sure what your real name is)
Beautiful Gazelle. What’s underneath? Is it front engine or VW based? You’ll see the postings here are focused on MG replicas. But the Gazelle “Mercedes” and the various MG kits had a lot in common re their construction.

I think your prices are fine. I’ll end up buying a t-shirt and polo when they are ready.

Dave,
Bill’s inference is correct. There are no US based manufacturers of MG TD kits. the closest is Prototype Research in Canada. This is the MG page on their web site http://www.prototyperesearch.com/mgtd.htm

Good comments Mark.
When we first stared this badge thing, I beleive Frank posted a picture (on the old yahoo site) that worked off the traditional MG octagon.
If I recall it correctly, I think it would be far easier to reproduce in enamel or cloisonne.
Frank, am I dreaming? If not, can you find that art work and post it again? -
Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Axle Weight Distribution VW based TDs in the forum VW Based Kits 20 years, 3 months ago
Brian is close regarding Classic Roadsters’ solution.
The provided a fiberglass weight box which holds 150 pounds of sand. It is mounted directly behind the grill shell. Top of the box is even with the top of the body side panels. It is trapezoid shaped to fit the body as it angles in towards the grill shell. It’s about a foot and a half deep and…[Read more] -

Hi Kermit,
I use a Cobra style rearview mirror because it has a greater adjustment range than an orginal style TD mirror. You can get it from Cobra Accessories http://www.cobraaccessories.com , their part number MR600. It sells for $17.00 and is on this page:

Frank,
The JC Whitney and Automotive enhancements look like the same cap. So whichever gives you the best price makes sense.
If you can only get them in a set of four, you could put a vinyl tire cover over the spare (matched to the top or interior).
I have have set of five, but they are used. No curb rash, but would need to be cleaned up, with…[Read more] -

Hi Frank,
165 R 15 is the correct size.
If it’s a steel belted radial, you will see 165 SR 15.
