  • 68C10,
These are Baskets. They are the wheels that came with the FiberFab replica. The kit consists of a flanged center hub that fits the center hole of the wheel. The larger shaped cap and Wire Basket are held in place by screws and an outer hub “cap”. All screws fasten to the inner flanged center hub. A pretty clever design.

  • Hey Rob,
I just sent an EMail to these guys to buy a set of the MG logos. I think they’ll look great!
Another idea, that I tested. I have the same wheels as you. I’ve been looking at them for some time, thinking that if I painted the chromed pan section of the wheel (the area behind the spokes) a semi gloss or semi flat Black, they would look more…[Read more]

  • Hi,

  • Hi,
I’ve been watching these cars for a while. I’ve see people asking for $7500 and up but actual sales have been between $3500 to just under $6000. One sold on Ebay in December for $5800 and it was in VERY good condition.
I won’t tell you whaI paid for mine….you’d cry

    Geoff,
Ran across this on  Craigs List http://prescott.craigslist.org/cto/964902173.html
Just in case you can’t connect to the add, it;s an MG Hot Rod in what looks like a FiberFab body/chassis. it has a 350CU IN/45 HP engine in it. Doesn’t look to be too heavily modified. Does sound like he did some suspension work. Coincidentally he’s in…[Read more]

    Ringo,
Awesome car! I also like the painted slats design. I’m curious, are they actually painted? It almost looks like some kind of applique because it looks like some of the Chrome is still showing on the slats. I think it really dresses up the look.
I’ll bet it turns some heads!

  • Hi,
I’m up here in Dunstable, MA on the NH border. My dad-in-law lives in Wellfleet and that’s about a 125 mile trip. There are now at least three of us in MA (RobBaker is on the north shore up near Plum Island).
I have a FiberFab as well. Check out my photos. Mine has a Mustang V6. Can’t wait until spring!!
    Let’s hear about progress you’ve made…[Read more]

  • Hi,
Congrats on your new purchase. It’s a beauty! What’s under the hood? Need more Photos. Need more stats.
Also, Where are you? Looks like somewhere warm where you can actually drive that baby! I’m Jealous!!

  • Hi Chuck,
Just wondering if you ever found a source for the Wind Wings? Mine are pretty badly “crazed” from the sun and I’d like to replace them. I’m thinking that good quality 1/4″ thk Plexiglass would do the trick. Just concerned on the cutting and getting the right look on the beveled edges. Let me know what you decided to do.
    Thanks,
    Rich

  • Geoff,
The guy that built my car said that at the time he built it he was told that the Ford 2.8L V6 was the biggest engine that would fit in the front engine version of the FiberFab design. The Ford V6 fits only because it is a 60 degree configuration vs the typical 90 degree on most V6s and V8s. That makes this engine much narrower. So, you c…[Read more]

  • Geoff,
This may be totally unrelated, but I just had a similar problem with my car. It started with difficulty getting it into reverse and then the Shift Lever just completely disconnected, as in NO GEARS! I took the shift lever off (3 bolts, depending on how it’s cut away, should be accessible from the top) and when I felt aroung in the oil, I…[Read more]

Yeah, I appreciate Geoff’s response and the info provided, but I was already thinking of alternatives to avoid drilling holes. My headlight buckets are in very good condition, but I noticed some surface rust inside when I had to change a sealed beam recently. there is very little plating on the inside of the buckets. I was actually…[Read more]

  • Geoff,
Another question. I noticed that your MG has the Headlamp chrome Stone Guards. I have sets that came with mine for the Headlights and Fog Lamps as well, but I don’t have any hardware to attach. Can you describe how yours are attached? Might have to fabricate my own.
    Thanks,
    Rich

  • Geoff,
Probably the same Ford transmission as in my car. I have not had a chance to drive it any great distances, but so far Trans is smooth and quiet.
Clutch cable replacement was a major pain. Apparently the Clutch Lever on the tranny was too close to the fiberglass cowling and when somebody tried to disengage it tore a small hole in the cowling…[Read more]

  • Geoff,
Thanks for the info. I’m really having fun with this car. It is in great shape and I got it really at a low price. Not as nice as yours, but it has a lot of potential.
The V6 is really cool, but a little short on horsepower. 105 HP is plenty for a light car, but I’m a little surprised that 2.8L can’t deliver more.
    All the best!

  • Rich Bellefeuille replied to the topic Rich’s Ride in the forum TD Replicas 17 years ago

    All,
Minor repairs complete. All lights, horn, wiper working fine
Steering has been lubed and now works just fine. Now all that remains is buffing, polishing, removal of oxidation, and wait patiently for Spring. V6 seems to have sufficient power, but surprising that a 2.8 liter can only deliver 105 HP, but that’s what the book says.
    Lots of Fun!

Hmm.. From where I’m sitting 727 miles, 7.5 hours to Carlisle. I think I may have to miss that one. Sounds like a lot of fun though.
