James,
I think Mark is specifically talking about large dia. wire wheels being a problem, and he’s absolutely right. The smaller the diameter (like 14″) and the wider the tire, the less likely you are to have tuning and out of round problems. However, major pot holes and running into curb stones can certainly be a much bigger problem for these vs…[Read more] -

Bill/Paul,
You know the LBCar co with the $106 Shell has a contact and phone. Might be worth a call. Maybe he can provide a photo and a reference?

Hey Paul,
You really went to work on this one! Great job!If Bill can’t land a deal on one, it sure won’t be for lack of effort. Again, that’s what makes this Club and Forum great. (Plus the occasional comical anecdotes)

Rob,
Thanks, that confirms my findings. I’m going to stick with End Dust for now because it seems to have a little less oil in it. Sure makes a quick detail easy and painless!

Dan,
I haven’t gone the route of wet sanding yet, but I have tried some very aggressive compound with an orbital buffer with so-so results.
My limited understanding of the Gel Coat problem is that what we seeing as gray/white haze is actually porosity (holes) in the finish. So the choices (other than Paint) are to either remove the pores (your…[Read more] -

All,
Beautiful day today. I took my dad (84 years old) for his first ride today. Made his whole day!, Mine too! He’s not in the best of health so I don’t know how many more opportunities like this are left. His memory fails him most of the time, but he swears he’ll remember that ride forever

Paul,
Naw, it was a gift that I bought for myself and my son about 15 years ago. It is very heavy but the sound is awesome. I play it through an original 1976 Fender Princeton Reverb amp. The sound is vintage and awesome. I have thought about selling it a few times because it doesn’t get much use anymore, but just can’t get myself to do it. Now…[Read more] -

James,
Man, you really have to wonder where this stuff comes from. Here’s my scenario:
One morning while eating his Corn Flakes, Chester thinks, Man, I really like them old VW Microbus’s (chomp, chomp), and wow, I really like playing pool with the guys (chomp, chomp), Say, wait just a doggone minute! What if I take a VW Bus and turn it into a P…[Read more] -

Wow, really sorry to hear that. I’m a music nut and also a struggling guitarist (Guitar, Piano), and a bit of a collector. In my collection is this 1977 Les Paul Custom Natural beauty! Next to my TD Replical, it’s my pride and joy!
Great musician and innovator. The Solid Body Guitar, Multi-Track recording to name a few. Hell of a player t…[Read more] -
Rich Bellefeuille replied to the topic DOA – Jumped Time? in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 15 years, 8 months ago
Ringo,
If it has spark and compression and the timing belt is in place that certainly eliminates a few most likelies. I suppose it’s possible for rhe timing belt to JUMP, but that’s highly unlikely. Have you fully eliminated fuel problems? Is the electric fuel pump working? Should be easy to check.
Good Luck!

Rob,
I have almost the same problem. If I put the nozzle all the way in, it clicks off and won’t pump. If I pull the nozzle about half way out and try to pump full force, it again clicks off. The only way it works well is held about halfway out of the filler opening and about half squuezed on the pump handle. Then I just finesse it up until I see…[Read more] -

Brian,
Just curious about the “twitchy” steering. I think the Chevettes have a “rag joint” that connects to steering column to the Rack/Pinion steering. Mine is a Ford Mustang front end and that rubber/plastic joint disintegrated making the steering like a stick in a fish bowl. Easy and very cheap fix. Could be your problem?
Good luck!

Hello and welcome, Soundls like a great deal! However, NC is over their quota for TD replicas, so you’ll have to sell her, or move to another state

Hey James,
Just a follow up note. I know you’ve recently gone through some very difficult times. Just wondering if you’re going to get back to that car in the near future. Probably too hot to drive in Memphis at this time of year anyway, but there’s some nice fall days comin’ around the corner!
