Thanks for the pic.:-)Looks like a very nice car.
I especially like the two tone color scheme .
I’m sure you’ll have fun once the weather turns nicer.

I keep my LR in a storage garage about a mile away, and go at least once every week just to check things and start it up. If it’s warm enough ;30+, I’ll take it out for a short one or two mile trip. Can’t wait for May! As to living in S. Cal, I have family there and been there many, many times. I agree with the traffic, air, water, and other…[Read more]

Thanks for everyone’s input.I too, have been thinking of ways to add shoulder straps. Never could come up with a workable solution. But after reading through all this, I’ve changed my mind. I’m keeping the lap belts like they are.To be morbidly honest, I’m not sure if shoulder straps would be of any added safety in event of a wreck. Sort of like…[Read more]

Good Work!I have a question about dashboards. My LR has a fiberglass dash covered by thin veneer. Is that how others are as well, or do some have a full wooden dash? Some day I would like to replace mine, but don’t know if it’s possible.

I went to the West Marine web site and found several different length hooks; 1 1/2″-3″.What is the length you used? It’s hard to tell from your pics.Thanx again!

Thanks for the door safety lock thread!I’ve always wondered how some of you solved the issue of accidental door opening. Years ago, before seat belt laws were so rigidly enforced, a co-worker of my Mom was killed when he fell out of his car and was hit by another car. Always made me lock the doors and wear by seat belt. But my LR doesn’t have door…[Read more]

Also, I wonder how much the side panels add to the structural strength of the overall car body. Removing them may compromise the integrity. I always thought car companies simply cut the top off of a car to make a convertible, until I talked to car designer and was told, unless planned as a convertible from the start, there had to be internal…[Read more]

Thanks for sharing. I took out my not functioning radio, made a wooden box to fill in the hole and finished it with a stained oval wooden door.I used some chrome trim around the edge, but am not totally satisfied with how it looks. Now have a usable (if small) glove box like the originals.I’ll check at my local DIY for your solution.

Like many have already said, I’ve driven my car only a couple of times after dark. Like owls, bats and other night creatures, it seems speeding semi’s like the dark, and being the smallest car on the road becomes frightening. I hate driving in a fog (I saw a very bad multi car crash happen in the fog) even in my full size car, so would never…[Read more]

Along this same line of question, my LR seems to have drum brakes on all four corners. But everything I’ve seen states it should be front disc and rear drum (?). Or am I just mistaken…My LR is based on a standard VW bug pan. I don’t know what year.

I don’t know how handy you are, but you may be able to make a “hybrid” from your existing cap and one from mgmagic. Use their chrome caps with your screw in end…Here is the link for their gas caps:http://www.mgmagicclassicmotorparts.com/search.php?search_query=gas+capThey’re pretty inexpensive so if you get one and it doesn’t work out your not…[Read more]

You have a very nice car!
About driving in the cold… I live in central Illinois, so our weather is about the same…Being an old motorcycle addict, I just get out the old leather jacket, hoodie, riding gloves, goggles and hat.As long as it’s sunny and dry I hit the road.Warning…you’ll get some WEIRD looks! Looks like A LOT of work! No gauges, interior, etc. so needs more MONEY, too!
I paid $300 dollars MORE for my COMPLETE LR and drove it from Chicago to Champaign, IL the next day.:cool:But if you’re looking for a challenge, GO FOR IT!
