Rob Baker replied to the topic New Wind Wings in the forum TD Replicas 15 years, 1 month ago
For hardware this is what I’ll be using. It’s the same hardware I used on my cobra so I know it works. Not cheap however. I’ll be making my own wind wings out of lexan. Lexan is great material for wind wings not cheap either but it holds up well.

Montie,
I took a look at your pictures and noticed you altered your valve cover oil filler to a breather cap. I had a Ford breather cap and noticed it was a source of an oil leak. I hate oil leaks. This weekend I believe I will be going back to a setup you started with and will alter my setup to more closely what you had prior which I be…[Read more] -

Strange all the pieces aren’t the same color (Red)?
This car would require paint and it appears it’s lacking a grill.
Could be a fun project if you can still find a chevette. I haven’t looked for one recently. -

Rob Baker replied to the topic HARDTOP ANYONE? in the forum General Discussion 15 years, 5 months ago
Probably just an old soft top and not a hardtop. I cut up my old top recently to use as a template to make a new one. I like the open air driving so much better. Not sure how much use my new top will get.

Ed,
I agree with larry it would be fun but could be an expensive option. It will be interesting to see if electric works out in the next couple of years.
Factory Five is working on it today. See link below

Have you gone to the local autozone store to see if they have a rental tool or borrow tool for this effort.

I bet it’s been done and documented on the Mustang II sites. I would be a little concerned upgrading the rears without a proportioning valve installed in the rear brake line. Your brakes need to be balanced front to rear and the valve will give you that ability.
I too am not happy with my manual brakes but think I’ll replace the rotors and get b…[Read more] -

Completed the Pertronix installation this weekend and it is a huge upgrade to my 1974 Mustang 2.3 liter engine. It was a little more effort and expense then I originally expected but working on these cars is a learning experience. I had to add the Flame-Thrower 40,000 Volt Canister Coils as my coil didn?t seem to be compatible with the P…[Read more]

Paul, nice history lesson, just one correction 🙂
Cobra’s such as mine can be had or built for 25K but if you decide to build one you really need to be willing to put in the effort as these take time, money and dedication to complete. Hope to meet you and others at Carlisle some day as retirement is not that far away. Working on cars and bu…[Read more] -

For overheating, I installed an overflow container as the original builder didn’t install one. It really assures a full system and allows me to check fluids without touching the radiator cap.

As an owner of two replicas I can say they both have there merits.
These two don’t get together often but they seem to get along fine when they do.
My wife loves the MG do to it’s lack of comparison power.
I think the cobra has it’s role in the fast pace environment of MA but NH is a slower pace and perfect for the MG. They both get considerable…[Read more] -

I’ve used pledge on my Kayak the below is from the Old Town website.
How do I clean my Old Town canoe or kayak?
HULL EXTERIOR: Wash with mild soap and water. You can also use Murphy’s Oil Soap. To beautify, we suggest a vinyl protectant product such as Armor All?, 303 Products or Pledge. These are safe for use on any of our PolyLink3?,…[Read more] -

John,
Sounds like you have made some great progess getting this car on the road. The twitchy stearing can be resolved by doing the appropiate alignment. There are some web sites that can guide you as to how you can do a home alignment with some simple tools. Sounds like you’re close to having a very nice pute-pute. - Load More
