Greg Stickney replied to the topic Weber carb rebuild in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 10 months ago
While I doubt if I could get the fronts off the ground, that 180+ hp I generate with my 2.3L engine does incite some puckering in certain places, especially if you don’t know it’s coming. My car has the same hp to weight ratio the shelby does. Scary isn’t it?I also doubt the chevette rear would sustain the stress of a well turned out engine, and I…[Read more]

Greg Stickney replied to the topic Ready for Christmas in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 11 months ago
I cannot agree more with the sentiments expressed. As a fairly new owner I have gained quite a bit of knowledge that has helped us bring our car to running condition. Christmas is our time to reflect, share, and join with friends and family to celebrate the largest holiday of the year. Mel and I will share dinner with our wives on Christmas day, a…[Read more]

Not a chance! It was about 50, dropping to around 45 by the time we left! Besides, Mel isn’t quite yet acclimated to warm weather like I am, so he can take the cold better than I can. Me, I’m a wous when it gets cold.Greg

Snow? What is that snow? It was a true joy to see Mel and his bride, and of course, Mel forgot to mention that I have a shop with all the tools and he does not. Not until he gets here full time anyway. In the mean time, the car show beckons today, and dinner afterward I am sure. Greg

Just one ignition switch that I use. The one in the steering column is currently disconnected until I work out the details between the new wiring harness and the ford ignition switch.

I’m also on facebook, and even though I don’t understand how to use it very well, I agree that having some kind of page there would not be the best thing for this group. We would be inundated with all sorts of crappy messages, which take time to delete.NO NO NOGreg

Greg Stickney replied to the topic Here we go again! in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 14 years, 11 months ago
Like JasCochran, I too have a 2.3L ford, which is VERY quick. I owned a new Chevette, and would not need to experience that again. See if a 2.3 will fit, and if you are going to rebuild an engine anyway, why not go for the best four banger? Just a thought.Greg

Greg Stickney replied to the topic turnsignals in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 12 months ago
James Cochran and I both have a central ground strip. AFTER grounding to the frame, I ran a wire to a separate terminal strip with 12 screws to attach various items to, including the entire dash. It is very hard to explain what to do because we all have a different layout and/or system. I have a Ford, some have VW. I am not well versed in VW’s…[Read more]

Check the ground. Fiberglass cars have no natural ground. Run a wire from the signal to the frame and see if that does it.Greg
