Bill, The chevette donor I stripped to build my kit had the computer under the dash against the inside of the firewall. I have not installed mine yet but that is where I would put it.Will

Paul, Thats where I got the idea, Octagon loaned me his Classic Roadster build manuals and although his car is a chevette kit the book covers both models. Funny you should mention the funny looks that concept is exactly what got the hotrod guys excited enough to help me. Will

Ok so Paul is behind the Camera, can you give me the right to left so I can put faces to the names. Ed, I’m not a giant, just someone stubborn enough to weather the trials and errors, and there have been errors, but I guess thats how we learn. This has been a lot of work but a wonderful father/son experience. We have worked side by side and I have…[Read more]

Will Burge replied to the topic Colors of welting in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 6 months ago
My White migi has red welting to match the interior, and My Red CMC has black although the interior is brown, but one of the hot rod specialty places had every color imaginable. If I can remember where I saw it I’ll let you know if I come up with it.WillI found it here it ishttp://www.julianos.com/fender_welt.html

Will Burge replied to the topic Door Latches in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 8 months ago
I was actually thinking of staying with my silent traveler latches but adding suicide door poppers and actuators I saw on one of the hot rod sites as electric door locks. With a convertible top it won’t do much fro security but would and a little additional safety. Mine has popped open a time or two as well although adjustment has lessened that

Will Burge replied to the topic MGTD Kit car suspension in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years, 8 months ago
Ed, The body height does change, if you can picture the end of the beam as the face of the clock and the arms as its hands as you lower the adjustment on the beam you move the arms counter clock wise. Which basically lowered the body down closer to the tire and closer to the center of the wheel well or further to the rear where it had been s…[Read more]

Will Burge replied to the topic Redone Dashboard in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 9 months ago
Ed, The Veneer comes pre-sanded, so there is no sanding required. I only wiped it down with a tac rag to remove any dust. The directions said that 1/16 ” coat was equal to 50 coats of varnish. Will

Will Burge replied to the topic Narrowed torsion beam? in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 10 months ago
Ed, I just went out and looked at mine, since as you know it is currently a bare pan. I have no experience with a narrowed beam, but I did install my own adjusters. if they take the two inches from the middle when they cut the beam to put in the adjusters it appears to me that sway bars should be fine, cutting the leaves should not be a problem…[Read more]

Paul, that is a funny story and easy to imagine. We don’t live in a condo and I have all the neighbors “paid off”with Home made beer, I also brew some really good beer and always have some on tap. It isn’t rare to have a neighbor stop by to check out our projects and have a frosty mug, I am not sure they are really that interested in the cars, but…[Read more]

Will Burge replied to the topic Rust, rust, rust replacing ploor pans in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years, 10 months ago
Paul, I would say you have quite an accomplishment there. I have learned in the short time i’ve been into this and by the number of cars I looked at before and since I bought my kits that many people never finished and many of those who did, did not do as good a job as you did. Even though it went through a couple of hands before I got it, the…[Read more]

If any one noticed there are seat brackets on the pans in the second set of photos and in the last set I have removed them. Here’s some advice, take it for what its worth the passenger side was removed according to some advice I was given, which was to lightly drill the spot welds on top of the seat brackets and pop them off the pan. note the pans…[Read more]
