Prologue,
Well, in spite of terrible weather (rain, rain and more rain) I have logged about 2200 miles since early June. This car runs great, plenty of power, very good handling. I’d like to give the brakes a work over but other than that, it’s much more fun to drive than I ever expected (and I expected a lot!).
Today I get to see if it runs as…[Read more] -

I did the way Pink MG on two different cars and it worked OK. I don’t know if the reading is accurate but I know where the normal reading was so a higher reading will let me know if a problem develops.

I bought a fitting from Peek Performance in Seabrook, MD that allowed you to hook the oil pressure idiot light switch and the oil temp sender to the same port that the OEM oil pressure sender is in on the side of the block.
I read somewhere (Samba forum?) that the dipstick sender is the best location for accurate oil temp readings…I don’t…[Read more] -

On one of my cars I used a VDO sender designed to replace the oil pressure control plug on the left rear bottom of the engine. It has the same threads as the original VW plug and works just as well as the oil sump plug I have on my other car and makes for a cleaner installation. The sender is the same dimensions as the OE VW plug and does not make…[Read more]

OK I have to put my 2 cents in. Wind in your hair is part of it all ,at this time my wife and I have 3 convertibles Camaro,&a PT and have had 13 over the years, the best for NO wind is the camaro, the worst is the PT. and that car has a bar over the back to cut wind and it doe’s nothing . I tryed wind wings and I truly think they helped verry…[Read more]

Please post a picture of the wiper blade. I used to buy mine at a Marine supply and they set screwed to the VW wiper arm.

If I recall correctly, most of the turbulence comes in from the rear of the car. Rich is correct that the basic design is such that turbulence is what you live with. Not much manufacturer concern about wind and noise comfort back in the pre-war and early post war sports cars.
Again, Rich is correct about today’s convertibles. I remember the…[Read more] -

Lee,
My post is under TDReplicas and is called New Wind Wings. I have tried two different designs and made them myself out of Plexi-Glas.
No Wind Tunnel tests or anything that scientific. My impression is that they do change the side wind aero but not much. I think that the car was just not designed to minimize turbulance. In fact, I’d say that if…[Read more] -

LeeWind wings do work. I think maybe Rich made some custom ones but I can’t seem to find that post here in the forum right now. I know they are available through Moss Motors. They attach to the windshield frame and appear to be pretty universal from replica brand to brand.Ringo

This is serious. My 52 MGVW at about 50, 55 the wind really is most unconforable. I need some idea that works. I haven’t tried wind wings and would appreciate any suggestions that may help or work.
It seems the windshield would be a good place to attach, but if anyone has an idea that works, please let me know.

It’s so sad when our dads die; it seems we are one less person inside.

James, my condolences. I’ve been through this with both parents. I still miss them both too.
I was able to share the same experience you had with your Dad with my mother in January 2001. She too got to ride in Pink MG #1.
The Pink MG moniker came from her telling me in 1953 that she wanted me to buy her a Pink MG when I grew up.
You’ll be in my prayers.

I second Larry’s suggestion. The wipers from your ’70 VW should work.
