Greg & Allen: were you able to get names of the owners or other contact info for TD owners? If so, seems like an opportunity to expand our numbers.

I just got the regular Bosch gray ones and wrote “Lucas” on them with a Sharpie. I also left one a little loose to simulate the famous “Lucas misfire,” which is said to aid in cylinder head cooling and overall engine longevity.(
)Seriously, good luck. All I seen are blue, red, yellow, black and gray.

Actually can’t see below, Roy.It’s an excellent question, though. My BCW carries serial number 110, meaning it was the 110th one they made. We don’t know how many the company made total, but the number (with the date of delivery on the kit invoice, and other info) gives us some real info about the scale of British Coach Works’ early ’80s…[Read more]

If it’s not a stuck PCV valve & blown-off breather, it’ll be probably the valve cover gasket. Cork is actually good for those; don’t over-tighten them. I used to use a little spreader thing on mine to spread the force. Then I scored a pair of finned aluminum cal custom covers and my leak issues were over.Hard to find those new now. The old…[Read more]

Ray, the pic you found (in Wobby’s) is of the same vehicle as the white one in the other pics. Royal: yes, that’s a blindfold, and it’s a game–played at one of the early Gathering of the Faithful. The whole story is found here, at the “original MG” site. Quite a story!

Correction: While the TCs all came from the factory with big wires, TDs came with steel wheels. The earliest cars had solid discs; starting in late 1950 or early ’51 they were drilled with 15 round holes to improve brake cooling. All the cars had dog dish hubcaps from the factory. There were aftermarket wheel covers, including a multi-piece set…[Read more]

That’s the one. Possibly the one and only.Re the kit parts: On second thought, if you made it on a VW pan it’d need a Suby engine to lay flat under the bed. ‘twould be wicked.

A pickup project would be interesting, and historically fitting. On a VW car it would do a lot for engine room too, though I suppose you’d have to make it with a “dump body” to get access to the engine. Those body parts are an hour and a half away from me.

ebay listing removed but this craigslist ad looks familiar. $300.Not for me. I have too many other projects. But the price looks to be within reason.
