  •  It sounds like the wire from the LF turn signal has been connected to a terminal that is hot all the time.Trace the wire from the LF signal light back to the interior of the car. See if it is attached to the fuse panel or to whatever. IMHO if the LR signal is working properly ,the switch is Probably OK. You could also trace the LR signal wire…[Read more]

  •  Hey, Don’t apoligize for being  a newie. We love newbies, we all were newbies . Problem is ,the aqua section to the left is always there,at least it is on my computer and I’m not smart enough to make it go away on mine and show up on yours.Perhaps one of our more computer savvy members can tell you how to make it happen.Wink

  •  In the aqua section to the left,, go to TDHistory,, the replica section . The London Roadster stuff is all the way to the bottom.

  •  Hi Karen,
I was browsing in the photo gallery and came up on your new pictures. The car looks good in the spring setting with the flowers blooming. The ”52” NC tag is a nice touch and a good match for the color scheme too.

Hey Stanli, What part of the world are you located in? Might help if we were near enough to pick up in person or do you ship world wide?

  •  Hi mgtdnut, Welcome to the forum!!  It’s always good to get a new member ,especially one who admits to being a ”nut”.However you just hooked up with a whole bunch of us who are nuts, addicts, lovers and         ,,,well you get the idea. We are glad to share what we know and are always learning more about these fun little cars.

  •  Richard, The stone guards are attached by metal clips.  The ones on my car use two clips that are attached to two screws that come thru holes drilled in the headlight rim. They run from inside the rim to the outside and use chrome acorn nuts to hold the clips to the headlight rim.
Another type uses clips that simply fit between the rim and th…[Read more]

That’s one NICE TD replica!!!! And it’s just as rare too. Can’t wait to see it when finished. I really like the accessability to the engine that the four piece folding hood allows. It’s also the first replica with a TD like firewall that I have seen. You’ve got a special one for sure.
Reminds me of my garage ,a red one parked beside a yellow one.Wink

  • Larry Murphy replied to the topic mp lafer engine swap in the forum MP Lafer 15 years ago

In the ”download manuals” section [the aqua section to the left] you will find wireing diagrams for VW based cars ,which should be at least close to the pattern on your MP. This will give you a starting point.

  •  Hi, I’m thinking that if the tires sat flat for an extended period of time ,that they are in  need of being replaced. A flat spot or breakdown in the structure of the tire is most likely the problem. It may not be visable from the outside.
I am assuming that the MP uses the VW front suspension,if this is correct ,I don’t understand how rem…[Read more]

  •  Joe, Look under ”general disscussion” topic  ”title and registration” for info on the requirements in all 50 states.

  •  Hi and welcome to the forum.
A couple of questions about the steering wheel to seat spacing.
Is the steering wheel flat or dished
Can the seat back be moved closer to the rear of the car?
Are the pedals located in a comfortable position in relation to the seat position?
Would it be possible to shorten the steering column or is the whe…[Read more]

  • Larry Murphy replied to the topic Luggage Rack in the forum VW Based Kits 15 years ago

He Guys, Why not make the racks out of aluminum tubing ,like the top bows are made of? It would be eaiser to bend and when wet sanded with 400 or 600 grit paper ,and then polished with metal polish, it’s almost as bright as chrome. It will never rust or peel and keeps getting brighter every time you polish it. I did my top bows and they look r…[Read more]

Thanks Paul, I”ll see if I can follow the instructions.

  • Larry Murphy replied to the topic Pictures 2 in the forum TD Replicas 15 years ago

Looking at the photo gallery is like discovering a whole new world.
If I could just learn how to do those ”links” now .Embarrassed It can’t be that hard but I seem to be missing something. Anyone giving computer instruction?

  • Larry Murphy replied to the topic Pictures 2 in the forum TD Replicas 15 years ago

MGLR, Have you looked at the member’s photo gallery at the top right, not the one in the aqua blocks at the left side. Perhaps the worlds largest collection of MG replicas is there.

  • Larry Murphy replied to the topic Hello in the forum General Discussion 15 years ago

Hi Rich, Welcome to the forum.Like Paul said , there’s lots of good info here and we enjoy sharing what we have learned. What company was the manufacturer of your Chevette based car? Post some pictures when you get a chance and don’t be shy about asking questions or answering them as well.

  •  Wow Ed,, That dash is looking great!! It’s the first one I’ve seen using the MG center . Looks really ”British” . The more appropriate size speedo and tach are a very nice touch.

  •  Doug, Good to hear of your successful conversion and that it’s performing well. I read the link and noticed you are using a clutchless 4 speed transaxle. Is it necessary to shift 1-2-3-4 when starting from a complete stop? Is it necessary to shift to a lower gear when climbing steep hills? Is it more efficient to use lower gears for slower…[Read more]

  •  Mark,I agree with Paul’s comment about the way this happened  and I’m somewhat dissappointed that NC lost to Delaware ,but I know you know best.
I too hope you have a long and happy retirement and can catch up on all those projects.
