  •  Sarge, The wood wheels you see on most kit cars are Grant wheels. The wheel itself is almost flat but the adapter raises it 2 or 3 inches to clear the turn signal lever. Some others use a wheel that is actually flat and the signal lever is reworked to clear it.That wheel is no longer available to my knowledge. See my photo gallery ,the wheel on…[Read more]

  •  Junkman, Another member recently bought a nice ,complete ,running TD replica for $3500. I have not seen one sell for over $5000.in quite a while. Still another member got a new ,never assembled kit still in the boxes for less than $500.  So the prices are all over the place.
From your previous posts and pictures it appears that your car needs a…[Read more]

  •  Dbrock, You say that you are looking at a TD. Is it steel or fiberglass? If it’s steel. it sounds like a MG that has had a Ford engine and trans swapped in to it.
British Coach Works is the only replica with the hood split down the center   ,,,  Wait a miniute, Seems like I remember seeing a few Classic Roadster Duchess cars with hoods like you…[Read more]

  •  Hi Will, We are glad to have you as a forum member. Please feel free to ask questions,we welcome them.Remember everyone here was once a newbie .
About the top, MG Magic has them [see the links page for contact info]. There was a post awhile back which said that their tops may be old stock and may have shrunk or dried out but a member who had r…[Read more]

  •  Ed, In one of the manuels on the forum, it recommends using the earlier column without the built in lock .
I checked MG Magic’s parts list and they list two different steering wheel adapters . One is for 60-73 VW shaft size .826  ,,one for 74+ VW SHAFT SIZE .670 . This may or may not be accurate. I would have thought the shaft size change wo…[Read more]

  •  Hi Wayne, Thats a good looking TD. I like the red and white combination, in fact I like the red and tan,red and black , red and red too. It looks to me that your car is a FiberFab or CMC kit, but the windshield height is lower than many of their kits. Did you shorten it by a couple of inches or did it come that height ? Looks just right to me.

  •  Hi Ed, Thanks for the video. Speedsters are neat but those TDs really did add class to the run. Glad you worked on your brakes before you went down that hill.

Hi Wayne, It worked . I just saw where you registered. Paul and James will add your info to the registry and map.
If you don’t mind telling us ,just where is Victoria ,Va ?

  • Hi and welcome to the forum. About the speedometer, is ”vintage ” a brand name or is it just referring to a type that is suitable for the car?Is it mechanical with a cable connecting it to the transmission or electrical connected to the sender on the trans by wires only?
See the link page to the left in the aqua block at the bottom for MG…[Read more]

  •  Allen, In my opinion, and it’s just an opinion, untill you get the kit body on the pan,it will be difficult to determine just how much you need to lower the front end . The general feeling of those on the forum is to remove some torsion bar leaves from both upper and lower beams and to replace the stock beam with an adjustable one. This will be…[Read more]

  •  Dan , That’s real nice of you to offer to check out the car. There’s nothing quite like seeing something in person. The fact that you have a car of the same type would mean that you would have something to compare it to. Hope you have a safe and pleasant trip.

  •  Allen, I’m sure that by now you have read at least some of the many posts on the forum about lowering and softening the front suspension on these cars.Much of the info has been presented by those that I respect greatly and who have been there and done that some more than once. Some say add weight  and remove leaves others say only to remove l…[Read more]

  •  Blu2u. Again may I say welcome to the forum. I to recommend the Samba site for VW info.
Off the top of my head ,the only overseas kit producer was MPLafer. Look in the photo gallery under BrasilUSA and see if your car looks like the one in the picture. Notice that the doors are hinged at the front  instead of at the rear as all other MG re…[Read more]

  •  Will,I agree with Ed, You got it bad and apparently your wife has been infected with the TD Replica virus as well!!!! Pause a moment and count your blessings. It’s a good sickness.
Your garage looks like a TD REPLICA factory. I see you are making progress on the Chevette based car . Post some pics as you continue, It’s looking good.

  •  London Roadsters are factory built  cars.  As I understand it ,they bought kits from Daytona MiGi ,assembled them on VW pans and sold them as completed vehicles titled as London Roadsters in the year they were completed or sold. I have owned two of these cars ,one since 1994,the other I only had for about two years but sold it after I got the BC…[Read more]

  •  Mike, I saw the picture of your car in the photo gallery. You already have more accomplished than many guys regardless of how much you have left to do. I say ”AMEN” to what Paul and Richard said in their posts. Help is available here. The restoration can not be done in a day ,but the time and effort you put in to this little car will bring you…[Read more]

  •  Junkman, The wiring looks to me like it’s designed by the kit manufacturer. It looks simular to my VW based car except mine is under the dash on the driver side. The junction block serves as a convenient method to connect wires coming from different directions  where it may not be practical to run one continous wire the entire distance. The f…[Read more]

  •  Thanks Paul, I’m glad you are working on it. I did not intend to imply any slackness concerning how anyone is fulfulling their duties here. Hope you can get in touch with FrankieD  in time to keep the site up and running. A LARGE amount of information is assembled in the posts ,it would be a great loss if it got gone or was no longer accessable.
