Ringo, Thanks for the reply. I thought I had read your post about the ClassicRoadster factory guy but could not find it again. I had seen a CR Chevette build on another site but did not know about the different combinations the factory made available. Guess I won’t be exactly leading the pack with my stock 1.6 Chevette! I remember Mark telling m…[Read more]

Paul, I know I’m getting off the topic, but your comments about the delivery of your car brought up a question that I hope you or Ringo can answer. If you want to move it to a new thread I understand.
Were the duchess front engine cars with Ford engines built with Chevette rearends? I seem to remember reading something about the chassis being a…[Read more] -

Ed, to be honest I have never actually seen a BCW VW based car but on my London Roadster VW if you jack up the front end ,turn the wheels to the right and look behind the left front wheel you can see the master cylinder with the brake light switch attached to it.These work off pressure from the brake fluid in the system instead of being…[Read more]

Ed, The more I see of your car ,the better it looks.Glad you had a nice day to take it out for a spin. Having Karen along to enjoy it with you and make the pictures was extra special I’m sure.It won’t be too much longer till we have more nice days.
Regarding the brake lights, sometimes the brakelight switch will get ”gummed up” from old age o…[Read more] -

Hi Bob, Glad you joined the forum as there is much good info on this site.Your posts are getting thru even tho the page comes up that says they are not.
MG MAGIC in Hollywood Florida has parts for some kits ,mainly Fiberfab/ CMC but many parts will fit other make kits as well. They do not have a website to my knowledge but you can call w…[Read more] -
Larry Murphy replied to the topic new radio in the forum General Discussion 16 years, 3 months ago
Mel, If the thickness of the face plate is part of the problem, could you eliminate the plate and use stainless washers on the stems?I realize that the new radio would need to fit neatly in the rectangular hole in the dash for this to work and also that the old faceplate could not have left marks on the dash. The other solution would be to…[Read more]

Ringo, If your tires have some life left, why not put the white side to the inside? I know you must be extra careful with those wheels but it would give you an opportunity to see how you like them without a big investment. You can paint the white walls black with a spray bomb after you clean off the silicone or what ever you use to make them…[Read more]

Ringo, I agree with Paul.Black tires, black car and wire wheels get my vote. I have admired your car since the first time I saw it on the forum.

Richard, Ckeck out the members photo gallery and you will see a nice assortment of tire, wheel hubcap combinations. You can enlarge the pictures and see them up close. The wheels on Sarge’s car look real good ,I saw a set like them last summer and was impressed but I am not sure they are available in the VW bolt pattern. Any other real wire wheels…[Read more]

Doug, That’s a real neat car you have, looks to be very well done. I checked out your link and pictures along with the cost breakdown but I could not figure out how much went toward restoration and how much it actually cost to do the electric conversion. I don’t mean to be nosey but I guess I am after all.You really do have a one of a kind…[Read more]

Geoff, You don’t have to rub it in, most of us are suffering in the cold! Seriously, I’m glad for you,it helps us to remember how good it is when the weather is warm. I’m looking for spring and it can’t get here too soon for me.

It’s sad that Mel came to Florida and the cold followed him. I wish he could have had more warm weather to enjoy his time with the MG. Perhaps this will make his retirement look even better. It’s cold in NC too, I’m sitting by the fire thinking of spring.

Will, That’s a good looking MIGI. I really like the chrome wheels with the smoothie hub caps. That is the first CMC chassis I have seen that did not have the body mounted. As Paul said earlier, keep posting pictures of your progress. It;s good to hear that this is a father -son project, a great way to stay close.

Richard, It,s a good thing that we are having global warming or you would not be able to cruise at all ! I’m surprised that you did not have the top down! Seriously, I admire you for taking it out at all, just be careful, those body parts would be hard to replace.I’m glad you both enjoy ”her Christmas present” !
