  • When the tonneau cover is installed, does it cover the convertible top and run to the dash or does the convertible top in the boot lay down over the tonneau cover? If the tonneau cover lays over the whole shebang, then my 34 year old original tonneau doesn’t fit. I can barely reach the dash WITHOUT the top installed.

This also makes me wonder if…[Read more]

I was working the car Thursday making the final adjustment on the passenger door. When it started getting dark out, I cleaned up everything, put the tarps on and secured them with 3 cargo straps. Friday it rained and today I got ready to install the side carpeting and when I pulled the tarps off both floorboards were filled with water about 1/4…[Read more]

  • I have my TD covered with 4 tarps. Went to do fit the interior side carpet but can’t because when I took the tarps off, there was 1/4 inch water in the floor boards. The tarps have no holes in them and cover the entire car. Can’t figure where the water is coming in from. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

  • Going out on a limb here but except for how the headlight bracket attaches to the fender, all the various kits attach to the grille frame the same way…i.e. by one large bolt. Can you not loosen that bolt and allow the fender to drop/droop downward to the height needed and then tighten the bolt thereby securing the fender at the correct or nearly…[Read more]

  • Does the shroud have the centerpiece in it? If you install the liner, wouldn’t that prevent ram air from reaching the radiator? I only ask because I have the VW kit and my shroud fits snuggly behind the front grille.

  • While browsing the bay for MGTD replicas I found one that has an interesting way of installing the stereo in the dash. It uses two VW valve covers; one cut into the dash with the stereo installed into it and the other valve cover hinged to be the stereo cover. Nicely done. Oh. TDr is a Duchess and has 1 bid for 2500 with a reserve 0f 4500.

Well I’m back at it with the TD. Got her engine running smooth using pure gas from a station about 3 miles from here. Tuned up really nice. Got the little bit of water out of the floor pans and adjusted the drivers door catch so the door closes to the second catch. Hinge installed on the passenger door and then I stopped for the day. (Redskins…[Read more]

  • Vicenc. Glad you and yours stayed safe. And glad no damaged from the storm. My sister-in-law stayed in Palm Beach. Lost a couple of roofing tiles but made it through okay. Lost power for a day but she still hasn’t TV or internet.

  • I was on base yesterday at lunch time and there was a crew from Nevada having lunch there. Compliments of the base personnel I’m sure. By this morning they are probably on the way to either Savanah or to Florida. Lots of truck convoys headed to Florida down I-75 and I-95.

  • I don’t know. I’ll have to check it. I have that show on DVR.

  • Was watching episode 12 of the TV series Salvation which aired last night. (Good series by the way). At the end of the show when they finish scenes from next week’s show they closed with a company logo and on it is the rear of a TD. I thought that was pretty cool.

  • Thanks Bill. Cleanup in my part of town is complete. The southern part has crews working. There are power crews from Georgia, Miss, Tenn, Ala and I believe Ky giving a hand.

  • Made it through Irma with no damage. I had Moneypenny covered with two tarps that I folded double. One small branch from the pecan tree in back poked through the tarps and got the floor pans wet. That was it. We were luckier than a lot of people here in the Warner Robins/Macon area. Still about 45,000 without power but again the Lord blessed us…[Read more]

  • It looks like the spare tire holder was hacked/damaged by someone. On mine, the spare tire holder fits into the opening of the engine cover from the inside and then bolted in place. And like Roy said “Don’t be afraid of fiberglass work.  It isn’t as hard as most would have you believe.”

    Schu,

Do you by chance remember what type of SUV you got the heat shield from. We have a pick and pull that I can peruse to find one.

  • Don’t forget that when you get the new or rebuilt generator installed you will have to “flash” the generator to set up its magnetic properties in the windings. Simple job that some folks forget about.

  • Thanks for the good info. Toller, I like the idea of that checklist. Perhaps you can dig it out and post it here on the forum. It definitely sounds like something we can all use.

As for bleeding the brakes, this is the second time in a year I’ve had to do this. Air appears to be seating into the closed system. With all the bleeders and metal…[Read more]

  • I was going to bleed my breaks and the bleeder fittings are seriously tight. I’ve sprayed PB Blaster on them to loosen them up but was wondering if I can remove the bleeder, put a light coat of anti-seize compound on the threads. Then install the bleeder and bleed the brakes.
