After I wrote that, I Googled
“Daytona Fiberglass Canada in Delta BC”The search results included a number of fiberglass and boat companies in Delta BC. So another possibility is that maybe, just maybe, Daytona provided molds and licensed production of the kits to Daytona Fiberglass Canada. This is pure speculation on my part!

Hi Bob,Welcome aboard. This is a great group. Nice folks. And a lot of accumulated knowledge that would be useless anywhere else!
I’ll repeat here what I sent you via email. My best guess is that Daytona Fiberglass Canada in Delta BC was an assembler, possibly “official”, but not necessarily. The only Canada based TD kit manufacturer I know of is Pr…[Read more]

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic V-8 MG TF replica on Ebay in the forum Running MGTD Kits Cars for Sale 14 years, 7 months ago
The MG TF was a facelifted MG TD.Mike is correct. The TF Victor was a TF replica using MGB running gear and a GM V8. Kind of a nice circle of life in automotive terms!Been digging around for some info on the Victor. This forum thread has some pics:http://www.mgexperience.net/phorum/read.php?1,1619768I found some spec sheets in Spanish. Don’t worry Ed. It is highly unlikely that she’ll break in half. The center tunnel is a strong back-bone and can hold the car together. Now, the front end may fall off, like happened to a friend’s Type 1 when I was in high school. Or your feet may drop through the floor pan (wear old shoes!).But she won’t snap in half! And don’t bother to thank me!…[Read more]

We’ve never really tried to organize our own event. Take a look at the registry page and map and see how spread out we are!
There are two events that we encourage all to attend, depending on whether they are east or west of the mighty Miss.
The annual Import/Kit/Replicar show in Carlisle Pennsylvania in May. And the annual Knotts Berry Farm Kit…[Read more] -

That is pretty amazing that we debate it to death, and along comes justduky who actually did the side-mounts!I was one of those that thought the side mounts would not work. Shows how much we know!

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Inner Grill Fiberglass in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 7 months ago
The Fiberfab assembly manual for Ford based kits and the CMC (Fiberfab) assembly manuals say to “Cut the fiberglass liner on the scribed lines, including hole for radiator cap.” (See page 45)So Larry’s explanation is right on target.Leave the fiberglass grill shell insert whole for VW kits and cut it on the scribed lines for front engine kits

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Spare Tire Mount Vent Holes in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years, 7 months ago
Correct Phil.
The engine compartment on a Beetle (or any of the air cooloed VW’s for that matter) is sealed so the top end and bottom end are insulated from each other.
Exhaust and heads are below the engine compartment floor.
To the extent we can replicate that environment in our TDs, our VW engines will be much happier.PMOSSBERG40570.4208217593 -

My Duchess has no special cover under the hole in the engine cover.Returning from a national kit car show in Indianapolis, I drove the Duchess through the worst rain I have EVER driven in, regardless of the vehicle. I had no water problems with the engine.

The reason is air flow in the engine compartment.
Not sure how othermanufacturers handled this.
But the Classic Roadsters Duchess engine cover is open behind the wheel. The steel spare tire carrier bolts to the z-bars from under the engine cover and comes through about a 12″ hole in the enging cover. So there is a good size air flow opening b…[Read more] -

OK Allen, you asked for opinions.
Here’s mine in a nutshell – Don’t do it. To my eye, the proportions are all wrong.
The VW based SS-100 Jaguars have an extension on the front of the VW pan that moves the front torsion tubes out at least 12 inches, and it might be more like eighteen. My memory is a little foggy on this, but it is definitely no…[Read more] -
