Here are Richard Wobby, Ed Ericson and Karen and Dale Schumacher.
Paul Mossberg is behind the camera. And Paul’s Duchess is not in the photo…because she didn’t make it. Fifty miles into, she blew up her motor motor about 50 miles into Friday morning’s drive. More on that experience in a separate note!

I’ve gotten pretty good at driving around town with out using the brakes. But occasionally, it might be handy to have a fully functional braking system. PMOSSBERG40318.6620486111

OK, I’m a little uncomfortable with us all being “…right there in (your) pocket….”
Your eyes must be way better than mine! I just looked at tdreplica on my blackberry. You’re right, the site does work OK. But even zoomed in a couple times, the text is pretty dang small.PMOSSBERG40318.3972106481 -

Hmmm, if Ed hoists one, And Wobby hoists one, and I hoist one…Dang Mel…you’ll be having a grand ole time!Moving along with the brake system repairs on my Duchess. Parts ordered from CIP1 arrived this morning as promised. My VW guy is confident he will be done tomorrow. Yay!I work on the stuff that makes the car go. I really prefer trusting an…[Read more]

Good idea Ed.My Duchess has room under the front trunk floor. Gas tank is on one side, but there is room on the floor pan on the lefts side. I may do something similar.

Not sure what time I’m getting out there Friday. Assuming the Duchess is back on the road, I have to go to NJ DMV early Friday morning, then to the inspection station for my special use sticker.
But if I am out there by mid-day and Ally is still at the RV, I’ll be glad to bring her down to the field.
If we bring it down, should we bring it back…[Read more] -
Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Spare Tire Support Ring in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 15 years, 4 months ago
The original style you found is meant to be bolted to a steel body…NOT to fiberglass. It’ll be a challenge to modify it for your replica and have it secure enough. Not sure how your kit was designed, but usually, there is a steel support on the back side of the fiberglass, and the tire mount either bolts through the fiberglass and backing steel…[Read more]

Nice of you Wobby!Safe travels! See you over the weekend. So…all my parts have been shipped. Car goes back tomorrow morning (in the rain of course, it’s pretty crummy in NJ this week). It’ll be interesting to see how crapped out the brake lines are!

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Location of Running Board Supports in the forum General Discussion 15 years, 4 months ago
Bill, I can’t help with locating the support. Classic Roadsters running boards attach to the front and rear fenders and to the body, but do not have an additional support. But regardless of where you locate that support, I recommend you not let anyone actually step on the running board. I’ve never tried, and have never seen any of my TD friends…[Read more]

I absolutely love this line:“All hard work has been
done and all the money has been spent. “When you read it with these three lines:“There are some parts
missing.”“All gauges,
instrumentation and wiring harness are not here.”“There may be some other
small parts missing. I will not guarantee the completeness of this
vehicle in any way.“I have…[Read more] -

Got confirmation that first parts order was shipped (thanks Wolfsburg West) but that was the small part of the order. Waiting on CIP1, but that’s OK. I did not expect to hear from them until tomorrow morning. All my fault for waiting so long to attend to the car this spring.

Agh!!! From the nothing is ever simple file.
After trying for years to get more than two TDs to Carlisle, we seem to be succeeding this year. And now it looks like I may be a “Volvo guy” this year.
I started pulling the car apart yesterday to do a simple brake job and soon realized I needed a pro. My local VW expert has the car today. I knew…[Read more] -

Rick,You can post more pics. Or start a flickr account (or similar web-based photo storage site) and link to the picture you store there. So far, it’s more important what we do not see. That is…are the rest of the parts there? From what we do see, I don’t like how high the Duchess is riding in the rear. That’s a huge amount of space between rear…[Read more]
