James, Buddy,
Don’t make us resort to a “TD Replica Intervention”! There is a point where you have to put the car back together, get behind the wheel and DRIVE!!!!
The seasons, like our lives, are short. (This is the best I can do for an inspirational speech. Other members, with eloquent words of wisdom and motivation, please step up to the…[Read more] -

All,
For those of you who, like me, have no clue what Mark is talking about with “Panhards” and “4 Link suspensions” the reference link below has a very good explanation of these terms.
Thanks Mark for challenging us to be bettter car “Techies”. Now if I can just figure out what a “Tremec TKO 500 tailshaft” is

Mark,
I have the same quarter elliptical set up on my 88 FiberFab, and I don’t find the ride to be too harsh at all. Not sure what my builder did different. It does have shocks with coil springs in the back, but I’m not sure that’s what you are talking about. I’m assuming you mean to go away from the leaf springs completely? Just wondering what…[Read more] -

Wow Larry,
That car looks really sweet!!!!
I bet you’re working the night shift getting it all together. That is going to be one fine ride.
Mark, I don’t know how you were able to part with it, but it sure looks like it went to a great home.
All the Best!

Mark, dude!
You’re being kinda rough on our CMC/FiberFab frames!
My metric of a good frame is that it stays together when I hit a big bump
I have my standards too….they’re low, but I have my standards

Hi Dave,
If you go to the home page you can download manuals. There is a complete FiberFab Ford kit manual. Although the diagrams are not dimensioned, you’ll get a good idea of the construction. Are you intending to build a TD replica? Be prepared, I think the Manual (PDF File) is over 90 pages.
Hope this helps.

Rich Bellefeuille replied to the topic Starter Problem in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 16 years, 2 months ago
Prologue,
As many of you know, I registered this car at the beginning of May and have been driving the heck out of it ever since. That same starter that I complained about ‘ad nauseum’ with the intermittent “premature spinning” problem has definitely “healed”. It has not ever exhibited the same problem since the temps went above 50 degrees. Go figure!

James,
Can’t steal my thunder. I voted for Larry!
Congrats, and a great story. Sounds like very nice people on both ends of the sale!
Can’t wait to see the finished “Pink MG”

Ringo,
Somehow I knew you’d come through. I have to have a good sound system. Believe it or not, all my home stuff is fully restored tube amp driven. The sound is awesome. I know I have to go solid state, and I really appreciate your input. Definitely good stuff!
Thanks,

When does the suspense end?? I wanted to vote for myself, ’cause I figured that might make it so. Didn’t work

Geoff,
Great Imagery! You know, I think the V6 is an advantage because I find it to be very stable at highway speeds. I haven’t gone much over 75, but it’s a smooth 75. I have to be a little careful. Bright red sports cars going fast are a bit of an attraction to the State and Local “Serve, Protect and Make the Ticket Quota” brigade.

Rob,
Our cars should sit at about the same level because they are both the same Ford suspension components (I think), but your’s is definitely lower in the rear. Let me know if you need any specifics on how mine is set up.
My speedometer is overstating speed by about 5 MPH. Not bad, but if you find a cheap source for alternate gears, I’d like to…[Read more] -

Ain’t it great??? I’m really glad to hear that it arrived safely from NY and you’re now able to enjoy it any time you want. Very well written too!
Your description of “staring down the boxy hood” was perfect! I think that look is one of the most fun things about this car. It makes the ride like nothing else you drive. Yesterday it was ~ 70…[Read more] -

Hey Rob,
Glad you got it on the road. Looks like you’ve been cleaning and buffing! I thought you lived in MA.
Let me know if you’re in the Nashua area, and we can arrange to have the “twins” meet.

Pretty funny Ringo….Swine Flu
Maybe James’ Engine Block is made of “Pig” Iron
James, you’re running out of “stuff” to check. I guess it could be a badly scored cylinder wall causing friction (let’s hope not). Possibly something intermittently jammed between the flywheel and housing?
Maybe if you loosen the nut on the rear shock absorber?

Hi Phil,
Doubt that it’s vapor lock unless you have a really hot running engine. Do you get gas smell and black smoke when you do get it started? Wondering the float in the carb is working properly and if it’s flooding after you shut it down. A good way to deal with it if it is flooding is to hold the accelerator all the way to the floor (don’t…[Read more] -
